Our open letter to UK infection control leads went today. Patients can be asked to remove their FFP2 or FFP3 mask, or swap it for a surgical one, while staff can now choose a respirator if treating a patient with respiratory symptoms. clinicallyvulnerable.org/letters/right-to-mask #RightToMask

Every interaction is a battle until you tip the scales. I carry my son's medical summary and present it at my appointments. "This is who Im protecting," After the initial 😱 reaction, everyone was happy to mask up, ventilate the room, or use full precautions. Sometimes you need the big stick. πŸ˜·πŸ˜‰

It makes you weep that this action is necessary. Thank you so much for doing this and please thank all those who contributed.

πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Thank you for pointing out the absurdity of NHS masking policies and repeatedly reminding people that as a nation we paid for an inquiry whose recommendations we are ignoring. It’s beyond time to get clean air into health care and use logical tools including masks and vax to reduce infection.

The guidance for masking in healthcare settings has a small mistake, but one that puts the health of the clinically vulnerable at risk. 🧡

This story is not so much about the care sector, but carers more generally. Those who tried to keep families safe due to health risks. This was a different kind of caring (particularly difficult for young people) and we HOPE it will be recognised in the module 6 report. πŸ’”

Why should we clean the air in schools? - Reduces pollutants which cause asthma, multiple cancers, and dementia. - More resilient to airborne disease and pandemics We need health-based standards for air quality in schools. Fund ventilation filtration and maintenance. #HIAS2026

πŸ’¨Healthy Indoor Air in Schools France : 3 Priorities 1. We must make indoor air quality a fully integrated component of public health and prevention policies, particularly in schools and facilities serving the most vulnerable populations.

β€œComplacency leaves the world vulnerable.” An epidemic or pandemic doesn’t emerge fully formed. Prevention starts long before an outbreak becomes a crisis. Complacency leaves vulnerable people exposed - which is why preparedness must begin now, not after the next next crisis.

Complacency leaves the world vulnerable. Political will is the need of the hour. Continued investment in epidemic/pandemic preparedness, stronger global cooperation, and fair access to health solutions will help make the Pandemic Agreement a reality.
