๐ŸŽฌ Meet the #CVMP2026 speakers, BFI Southbank, London, 8โ€“9 December. Keynotes: Robin Kahlow (Runway), Niloy Mitra (UCL and Adobe Research) and Victor Perez (Visual Effects Supervisor). Production Talk: Stuart Penn (Framestore), โ€œProject Hail Mary: A VFX Journeyโ€.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Research Impact: research taken up by others and used effectively in media production or products. ๐Ÿค Collaboration: a joint project across academia and industry. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Technology Impact: a novel tool that has had a significant impact on media production.

๐ŸŽฌ Production Talk announcement! Stuart Penn, Visual Effects Supervisor at Framestore, will give this yearโ€™s Production Talk at #CVMP2026, BFI Southbank, London, 8โ€“9 December. His talk is titled: โ€œProject Hail Mary: A VFX Journey.โ€ www.cvmp-conference.org/2026/product...

Stuart joined Framestore in 2000 after a decade as a research physicist. For Oscar-winning Gravity, he helped develop the techniques used to shoot its zero-gravity scenes. His credits include The Dark Knight, Paddington 2 and Mickey 17, and he led Framestoreโ€™s work on Project Hail Mary.

As AI makes visual beauty instantly accessible, Victor will explore how visual storytelling is moving beyond spectacle towards meaning, authorship, restraint and human imperfection. His credits include The Dark Knight Rises, Rogue One and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Niloy leads the Smart Geometry Processing group at @ucl.ac.uk and the Adobe Research London Lab, developing machine learning frameworks for generating high-quality geometric and functional content for computer graphics.

Robin builds the real-time technology behind Runway Characters, Solaris and GWM Worlds. He led the research on Gen-Turbo, which brought high-quality video generation down from minutes to seconds, and helped build Runwayโ€™s Gen series of image and video models.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Want to attend? Registration opens soon. Tickets include keynotes, paper sessions, posters, demos, refreshments and networking. Places are limited, so keep an eye on this account for the link.

Every pipeline behind images, sound or interactive experiences is built from layers of explicit systems. Drawing on Runwayโ€™s research into world models and real-time simulation, Robin will map which layers learned simulation can handle today, where explicit systems still hold and what comes next.

CVMP 2026 comes to BFI Southbank, London, on 8โ€“9 December. This is the final extension, with successful authors still having time to register before the 8 November early-bird deadline. Submit your research, prototype or demo on visual media production. #CVMP #CVMP2026

cvmp-conference.orgCVMP โ€“ Call for Submissions to CVMP 2026!

This yearโ€™s theme is โ€œIntelligent Worlds: From Creative Intent to Productionโ€. We welcome work across film, games, broadcast, animation and interactive content, plus short papers for our special session on Human-Centric 4D Generative Content. #CVMP #CVMP2026 #VisualMedia #ComputerVision

And that's a wrap on #CVMP2025! ๐ŸŽฌ What an incredible few days at the BFI Southbank. A huge thank you to all our attendees, our four amazing keynote speakers, all the authors who presented their groundbreaking research, and our fantastic sponsors and volunteers.

From mind-bending NeRFs and Gaussian Splats to the future of 3D meshes and virtual humans, the discussions were top-notch. Congratulations again to all our award winners! ๐Ÿ† It was fantastic to see industry and academia connect. We can't wait to see you all next year!

Our last keynote of the conference #CVMP2025 is by Peter Hedman on The Last Mile of Research for Production-Ready View-Synthesis focusing on his work at Google and the most recent developments of NeRFs and Sora.

He argues for doing demo-centred research which necessitates going the last mile of research. For example, for NeRF going the last mile was tackling the robustness, scale, and speed.

The elephant in the room of 3D reconstruction is light! We can use diffusion models to tackle this, but they come with a range of problems, e.g., they are very compute intensive and expensive, there's identity loss and don't really have 3D consistency at the moment.
