Big thanks also to all the new contributors to cargo-generate, without your hard work, a release of this scope wouldn’t have been possible. 🫶

Big thanks to Sebastian Thiel (aka Byron) and all the gitoxide contributors. Without their efforts to bring feature parity with git to gix, this final moment wouldn’t have been possible. 🙏

Big News: t-rec v0.9.0-preview1 — the Rust terminal recorder — now runs on Windows 10+. Captures the terminal window; exports GIF/MP4. Preview release (opt-in) install: github.com/sassman/t-r... I appreciate any feedback. #rustlang

midnight eureka moment in a claude conversation that stroke me. > So to answer your question directly: reuse requires deliberate discipline from me, not instinct. The "least resistance" for me is whatever makes the code compile fastest, which is often duplication.

Wow, this is a gem 💯 🕵️ proxelar — Intercept HTTP traffic from the terminal 🔥 MITM proxy with TUI, web UI & Lua scripting ⚡ Inspect, modify, mock requests in real time with full HTTPS interception 🦀 Written in Rust & built w/ @ratatui.rs ⭐ GitHub: github.com/emanuele-em/... #rustlang #ratatui

I had ~40 shell aliases—project-specific and often conflicting. So I built amoxide: an alias manager that auto-loads the right aliases when you cd into a project, with stackable profiles (rust, git, node…). Like direnv, but for aliases. github.com/sassman/amo... #ratatui #rust

Just freed 47GB of stale build artifacts and earned gold for it. 🥇 putzen v3.0.0 — cleaning is now a sport. Gold, silver, bronze — how big is your cleanup? cargo install putzen-cli

Claude Code sometimes ignores web fetch results and wrongly says something doesn’t exist—even when the data and logs prove it does. Ask again more directly and it usually fixes itself, but it’s easy to miss. Example:

If you’re building #rust CLIs or TUIs and macos’s idea of where configs should live (~/Library/App... Support/..) drives you up the wall, here’s a fix: a tiny, zero-dependency, dead-simple alternative to the beloved `dirs` crate say hi to: dirs-lite crates.io/crates/dirs...

Just had a genuinely heartfelt joy moment: Claude Code instrumented the `aws` CLI, set up the policies, and handled all the fiddly bits. Cloud infra has always been an endless source of pain and waiting—but with Claude Code, it’s almost… enjoyable.

What if images on social media could carry more than what you see? Not someday. Right now. I grabbed a JPEG from one of my own tweets—a regular screenshot—and revealed a hidden message I had embedded inside it. But that's just the first 30 seconds. It gets wilder.

Writing GUIs in rust, would you rather go - the GPUI route (zed's UI framework) - slint ui (custom UI DSL to learn) - dioxus (add the web/tauri complexity) asking for a friend.. leave a comment and share your perspective

Stenography is a long term hobby since University times.. After years of on-and-off effort, it's finally coming together: the art of hiding data in JPEG files!

This Weekend in GitHub PR Lander Fixing dependabot PRs for breaking change version bumps can be tedious.. That's the perfect job for AI like claude code. Now directly integrated in the GitHub PR Lander, to save even more time :)

I just experimented with the superpowers skill for claude code. And it has useful things included that are very verbose and error prone to describe. Things like validating a plan against actual code and reduce imaginary stuff from a plan or a spec. Another valuable aspect:

Splitting the plan into phases, where it check which of them can be executed in parallel. And finally taking care of the execution and verification at the end. install: via `/plugins`, search for `superpowers` and install usage: via `/superpowers:brainstorming what todo`

Guess which cool #rust based terminal recorder will land on windows soon?? 🥳 Not sure if only windows 10+ or earlier versions too. Any beta testers around?

Got carried away a bit, to a side-side project: - implemented the screenshot feature on t-rec - needed a nice visual way to indicate a screenshot was taken without disturbing the user - ended with a new crate for On-Screen-Display - focusing on animation support right now

The code needed for this example uses a API Surface with a minimalism builder pattern. Defining the animation is similar to the css keyframe style (line 12 - 23):

The first demo uses CoreGraphics and a private Skylight framework, but it flickers (actually not as crazy as the video shows) The second demo uses the CALayer from CoreAnimation, this is still at exploration phase, but it does not flicker and is super smooth.
