Drone debris falls on Kyiv like steel rain. The mayor keeps us informed about the damage it causes. We pretend we have umbrellas to hide under. Saturday evening. Drone attack again. I look out of the window to check whether it’s raining or not.

3/3 Russia veers from ridiculous over exaggeration to denial and trying to hide bad events from the public. Nothing changed from the 1970s. Somewhat optimistically, Moscow claims only 8 people were injured when the StormShadow missiles thundered into Proton.

2/3 The Proton plant manufactures all sorts of components for myriad rockets, vehicles and more. There are actually two companies of almost identical name at that address, but they both help kill Ukrainian civilians.

It's so daunting on the very slim occasions when I start the daily thread so late. So much to catch up on. Missiles hitting a Russian military plant, a POW exchange, another ship sunk in Romanian waters, a 'ceasefire' in Oleshky and the latest on peace talks. It's Day 1703

10 years ago, after Trump won the first time, I was on the verge of shutting down ACASignups.net. I even changed the domain name to ACASignoffs.net temporarily as a dark joke. A decade later it’s still going strong (with a major revamp on the way after Election Day).

Ezra Klein: The Medicaid cuts haven’t hit yet. The Medicaid cuts are enormous. They are going to throw millions of people off of health care — millions of Trump voters off of health care. … I think we’re moving back into a period of health care politics.

Bottom line: Anyone building a data center in Iowa should be contributing to Iowa, not extracting from us. They should be paying full freight in taxes and carrying their own weight, not raising your costs for anything, and most of all - should be respecting those who were already here.

Let's come together and try to save these people. They are eating crows and grass. People are dying in the streets and in their own homes. There are children there. We can spread information about what is happening in Oleshky. Journalists can report on the situation.

We can reach out to members of parliament and political leaders in our countries. We must ensure that humanitarian aid reaches Oleshky and that civilians can evacuate safely.

There have been traffic jams getting out of Kyiv on most routes since the Russian strikes and power cuts. The metro is a nightmare. It is running again now, but it looks frightening. There is even a report of one train door breaking due to too many people cramming in a carriage.

The US no longer warns Kyiv when Russian missiles are incoming toward apartment buildings where civilians live, leaving Ukraine unable to defend itself or ensure the safety of civilians—including children. They want Ukraine to capitulate. Can you imagine? The US.

Really speaks to the impotence of Congress that the president thinks he can simply sign an executive order invalidating a law that Congress passed -- and he signed -- just a few months ago. At worst, SCOTUS might slap his hand months or years from now -- well after the damage has been done.
