Pledge of the woke patriot: “I believe all people are created equal, and that we are stronger together than we are apart. Out of many parts we form one country, and I promise to protect the diversity of America or so help me God”

They’ve had these things working for years in Asia why is America so technologically backwards

Sometimes I think about all of my health problems (miniscule as they are) and realize that I could spend all of my day and time just nurturing my health and wellbeing, and then I think about all of the things I do instead, and it stumps me

Okay well this ignores most of human history when we practiced magic and alchemy I think the real dynamic is ‘insularity’ giving cause for reoccurrent iterations of cultural manifestations

Boo!-per Lund@cooperlund.online

I think about this comic a lot

Gotta love this secondary political-economic veto power wielded by investors

In the case of Lula, it’s straightforwardly obvious that his fourth term will be less friendly to corporate profits than Bolsonaro. An “ideology-neutral” assessment on growth is a mixed bag, not clear either way. But depressed Bolsonarists are now panicking and they own lots of Brazil’s market.

I think the coolest part about you can see everything is it feels like a real cultural phenomenon where everyone is talking about their opinions

This tradition of a hereditary claim to the privilege of authority is so alien to my modern sensibilities and yet i feel its eminently possible to return: the island of Prospera beckons

When the trailer for you can see everything first came out some people were saying “ohh look a Nathan and Elizabeth, an autistic person meets a narcissist” But the truth is Nathan had met his match in Elizabeth Holmes, who somehow seems to be even more autistic than him

I’d love to ask this guy how the LLM being open or close weights determines what’s the product. Because it seems like the product is the same in either case under this logic?

It's very funny to pretend that open labs have a more concerning relationship with the state than closed labs. Just casually going around, blowing up schools and calling anyone who complains Chinese

This seems like a story which is poison for getting government workers to do illegal shit on trumps orders

The people who decided it was acceptable to close the loop to transit over the weekend need to be identified and hounded I really hate how this modernization project is effecting transit in the city

Installed the wrong memory plugin and it fucked up my agent harness so I’ve had to do a reformatting…all the joins of systems administration with none of the background knowledge

If only there was a tool for denoising the field to find a signal

I have been meaning to write about this for a month or so now but it breaks my heart. AI has infected every hobby. Everything is noise. It's hurting existing communities and trudging through the slop is exhausting.

This is a consequence of viewing corporate governance through the lens of a “flurry of contracts” instead of as an institutional practice; you forget to rollout org tools which enact costsavings

404 Media@404media.co

In June, 404 Media obtained leaked audio from Accenture where execs shared that a big source of AI token ‘chewing’ is people just converting PDFs to presentation slides. Now, they're capping use to $29 a month. Employees are stressed. @josephcox.bsky.social explains: www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-ag...

They actively tell people to use the AI for this specific sort of task by the way. Maybe decompose your pdf’s into machine readable manuscripts and coach employees on best practices

Sometimes it’s hard being the only Machiavellian in the gc but it’s important people understand there’s a subtle rationale for a morally ambiguous political maneuver which is up for debate

The thing about a stunt like this is it misses the point—how does the “polling industry” reform itself exactly? Who’s in charge and who’s responsible? Self-aggrandizement as a public service

The decline and demobilization of CTU since the 2019 strike will be studied as a historical example of the rank and file strategy hitting a wall and failing to surmount the obstacle because of a failure to substantiate a coherent political vision

Wherein op argues if elections were held in China the contours of the political split would be similar to the Republican Party vs the Democratic Party with the Communist Party of China playing the same role as the Republican Party

DallyBob@dallybob.bsky.social

God damn this guy fucking rules he’s just so on point with his analysis of world affairs vis a vis China www.tiktok.com/t/ZTf6dTUXU/

What the fuck are CTU doing that they think blaming a teenager for not undergoing a deposition is a good argument to hang their hat on

2) I think he acted inappropriately at minimum, and even if it doesn't meet the school district's definition of it I think it probably does meet my definition of sexual harassment. 3) Dislike the defenses presented by him in this because an allegation can be politically motivated and also true.

Rank and file strategy proving to have unprincipled outcomes due to a peculiar tendency of the “iron law of oligarchy” is certainly ironic

This is why Chinese democracy is legitimately interesting to me, because it’s an overcorrection to this problem in politics (thermostatic public opinion), so it feels possible to locate a middle position between American democracy and Chinese democracy

William B. Fuckley@opinionhaver.bsky.social

People say that they want more thoughtful media, politics that are less divisive and more substantive, they don’t *pick* those things, but that doesn’t mean they don’t *want* them: an addict that can’t stop using still wants to get clean, they just can’t.

Hence why we have freedom of speech but not freedom of protest (which needs a permit from the police) and freedom of religion but not always freedom of worship (“your mosque violates our zoning laws for the area”) Your freedom is contingent on permission or allowance by a more senior sponsor

Patrimony is the origin of American political culture and the constitution enshrines its ethos as a legal principle, which is why pre-modern norms of government still inform the routines of Congress and state legislatures. To be free in America is to be a big fish in a small pond or their friend

To go longer: I think an underindexed explanation for the decline of america is that the elites stopped believing in America as a Nation separate from Capitalism, they decided the market will determine what’s American and what’s not; if it sells, it’s American, if not, out ya go

American liberals and neocons will boast about the personal and civil liberties guaranteed by our constitution, but that’s a false brag for a number of reasons, mainly that those freedoms are not real so much as enforced by contract; if you can’t or don’t enforce the contract, then it’s just paper

Oh you think you’re so smart because you notice that the government will be liquidated, including cops? What if I just pretend that won’t happen?
