I do think when historians look back the period the exact moment where it flipped and started going the other way won’t be anything any politician did but my Minneapolis neighbors weathering the worst of the regime in the streets, rallying together, fighting back, and winning

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I have been yelling at anyone who will listen about these kinds of pseudo fluorescence i2i methods for years now. For sure some valid use cases, but infinitely many more ways it can (and will) be abused.

Christophe 🔬 Leterrier@christlet.bsky.social

From the new info my bet is fluo labeling inference pushed to 11. Hallucinating nonsensical DAPI nuclei, mitochondria stain, membrane labeling from a kind of phase contrast image: wrong localization, wrong scale, wrong movement. Keeping this movie as SWiM winner is a disgrace to the competition

I don't know this technique, but If they're using label free imaging followed by some kind of image-to-image translation task to generate pseudo fluorescence, that would explain a lot of the weird artifacts. But, really stretching the definition of "light microscopy" here Nikon.

Kirsty Wan@micromotility.bsky.social

The link states that the cilia were imaged with "diffractive super resolution microscopy" which is not a technique I have ever heard of... anyone?? Apparently based on this paper? (which at first glance does not seem as outrageous as the Nikon video) arxiv.org/abs/2512.13432

Even with all the advancements in automated cell tracking getting us to 90%+ accuracy...that's still a lot of broken tracks over long movies! Our brains are pretty good at this so I made Vizsla 🐕, a little @napari.org plugin, to help you fix your tracks manually. 👉 pypi.org/project/napa...

Had an abundance of cherry tomatoes from the garden so we're making one of the simplest - and best - pasta sauces. Garlic and tomatoes in a pot, cook long and slow with salt until they've broken down completely, add fresh basil at the end.

FINALLY a histogram in napari! ♥️

napari@napari.org

*Finally*, napari gets a built-in histogram! It's still a work in progress but already *very* cool if we do say so ourselves, with live update based on the canvas and progressive, background update when computing on large full data.

Struggling for something to do in a TWO DAY gap without ⚽? How about trying our pre-release of napari 0.8.0? napari.org/dev/release/... Of note, this release drops Py3.10 support and deprecates PyQt5 in favor of PyQt6. It also adds some neat new features and improvements! See below: 👇

Ok what if the solution here is to send Ryan Gosling on a desperate mission to find the only natural predator of the algae.

union person@junlper.beer

it’s absolutely not the most important thing at all but i’m obsessed with th algae in the reflecting white house pool. every afternoon i check for algae updates. i can’t get enough algae updates

A lot of what resonates about him is that so many politicians have a barely concealed disdain for the places and people they represent, but Mamdani's love for New York is so clear in everything he says and does.

Since summer is coming and I have a metric ton of mint in the garden I've been working on my mojito recipe and the two key things seem to be: More rum (like 50% more) than the recipes usually call for Using a mint simple syrup in place of regular to pack in extra mint flavor

Microsplit paper is published! Image multiple structures in one fluorescence channel, and computationally unmix them later. Can't wait to see what the community does with this and what amazing science it can enable. Huge thanks to the coauthors!

Only people who live in Italy will fully appreciate this, but I went to Poste Italiane this morning. By the time I had pulled the ticket out and looked at the screen my number had been called. I went to the window and she had my stuff right next to her. I was in and out in less than a minute.
