Michigan’s Donavan McKinney and Christina Hines represent a new generation of future-focused, compassionate leaders. I’m so proud to support their campaigns for Congress.

EGLE takes seriously their obligation to defend the resources of our State, and, in my office, we will prosecute when necessary to uphold and enforce compliance with the law.

Spook-tacular event last night with the Ingham County Democratic Party celebrating all of the dedicated volunteers working hard to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

Major utilities like Consumers Energy and DTE employ entire teams of staff to craft rate hike applications to file one right after another, and their bill paying customers pay all the costs to craft these massive proposals.

In the past, we have asked the MPSC to require both companies to track their costs associated with rate hike cases and, as long as their customers are paying for the process, I hope someday soon we’ll know just how much.

With just over two weeks until Election Day, it was great to be with Sherry Berecz and her supporters in Brownstown today. Downriver is ready to send Sherry to the State House!

Michigan has a constitutional ban on using public dollars to fund private schools. Trump’s latest voucher proposal could put that ban to the test, and our next governor needs to be ready to fight for our public schools. www.freep.com/story/opinio...

Survivors still wait for the transparency Congress promised as millions of Epstein documents are being withheld. These records may be critical to uncovering wrongdoing and holding people accountable under state law. spectrumlocalnews.com/mi/michigan/...

spectrumlocalnews.comAG Nessel urges Congress to pass new Epstein files transparency lawThe original law took effect in November 2025 and required the U.S. Department of Justice to release records related to Epstein’s crimes by Dec. 19.

I’m proud to join my fellow attorneys general in this effort to urge Congress to give states the legal tools to obtain the records the Justice Department is required to release.

For nearly eight years my office has worked doggedly to curb these utility rate hikes, and in turn the cases have only grown. Change must come, to our current system of annual on-demand rate hikes and our regulatory structure, but the only changes we've seen are fatter rates and heavier bills.

Purchasing tickets to The Big House, for a big show or a big game, shouldn’t be a big ripoff. Our Consumer Protection Team received reports alleging thousands of dollars in tickets and memorabilia were never delivered, and the purchasers never refunded. www.wlns.com/news/michiga...

The Michigan Consumer Protection Act provides robust protections against bad actors and predators in the marketplace, and we will fully enforce the law to protect Michigan consumers and visitors to our state.

When companies put profits ahead of fair competition, patients and families are left paying the price. We are committed to holding accountable those responsible and fighting for a marketplace that gives consumers access to medications they can afford.

These actions cause public servants to live in fear in their own communities for simply doing their job. These threats carry significant legal consequences and my department will continue to prosecute these offenses to the fullest extent of the law.

The Trump administration’s attempt to unilaterally cancel these grants midcycle strips crucial funding meant to modernize technology, block fraud, and protect our state’s system.

Threats of this nature are unacceptable against anyone, though when they are made against an officer of the court for their service to public safety, it's a crime not only against the victim but also the institutions that keep all our communities safe.

It was great to join State Rep. Jennifer Conlin and her supporters in Brighton earlier this week. Jennifer is focused on the issues that matter to Michigan families, and I’m proud to support her re-election.

With this conviction, we’ve secured significant restitution to the family of the victim. Michigan’s elderly, and especially those reliant on others to manage their household needs or finances, deserve our attention and our vigilant protection. www.mlive.com/news/saginaw...

It is likely the MPSC will simply split the difference between the well-reasoned numbers my office proposes and the obscene demand from the utility, as they’ve done many times.

In this time of serious cost concerns in households all across Michigan, from groceries to gasoline, from the gas bill to the electric bill, it is remarkable our utilities continue to demand, and receive, rate hikes as large as we’ve ever seen.

We won’t tolerate the destruction of our natural resources in any corner of the state, and no business has the right to wantonly devastate important habitats. I’m grateful the Court granted our motion, and we’ll work to ensure damages from this case reflect the harm done here by these defendants.
