If you have a new iPhone Duo, check out Scoopy! It is a news reader powered by RSS that puts your sources on shuffle. On the Duo, you can read an article in book mode and slide through pages like an ebook. It's pretty neat. apps.apple.com/us/app/scoop...

Ecstatic to announce that Scoopy is officially available on the iOS App Store! If you don't know, Scoopy is a new take on news readers. It is powered by RSS, but it has no timeline, no infinite scroll, no chronological view, and most importantly: no ads. 1/3

Instead of all that, we take the sources you curate yourself, and then each refresh is like hitting shuffle on your music player. This new app version has a free "try it out" button so you can get a feel for how it all works before you subscribe. 2/3

Crucially we managed to make it happen before the iPhone Duo comes out. TL;DR what if book mode was book? Of course, I haven't been able to test in a real device yet, so if you are lucky enough to already have one, please let me know how it goes! 3/3

Did anyone who was at the apple event yesterday ask if sidecar and/or universal control will work for the iPhone duo? maybe @mkbhd.com, @joannastern.bsky.social, or @reckless.bsky.social ?

I quit my job at Disney. I'm going to try and build my own thing with a friend. That means I'm currently making negative dollars a month. We are building a new take on news readers. It's powered by RSS, but ignores chronological order. Every refresh is like hitting shuffle on your music player.

I want to prove this is a viable way to run a business. Focusing on the customer. Focusing on building a sustainable business, not trying to make some crazy angel-funded unicorn. Not even saying the word "AI" on the homepage. Being open about how we think about ai with a written policy.

This is potentially a terrible idea, I know. In a year I might be back on the "normal" job market. But I just need to see if I can do this.

It has a monthly fee. IMO this is a positive because it means we can focus on making the product awesome instead of working on "engagement metrics" or advertising nonsense. If this sounds cool, please sign up at scoopy.zone.

You are up to date.
