Hope you all enjoyed your extra hour this morning! October’s full moon rises this evening. The Hunter moon will reach its fullest early hours Monday before setting just before 8am for you early birds. Enjoy 🌕

Spooky season is my favourite time of year to go and find a nature rave 💙🌳 Did you know that a whole host of our biodiversity glows under UV light? Biofluorescence is surprisingly common once you start looking for it!

The Harvest Moon 🌕 September’s Full Moon will rise tonight around 18:44 in the very East of UK skies. It’s our first full moon after the autumn equinox, giving September’s full moon the title of Harvest Moon this year. Sometimes, our harvest moon can fall in October instead 🎃

Why the Harvest Moon? In days gone by, the powerful light of a full moon would have been a welcomed help as farmers gathered crops in the field. This meant they could work later into the evening and get all the work done ahead of the weather turning a little more autumnal 🍂

The equinox befalls us all tomorrow, and all the creatures of darkness rejoice, for it is our time to shine ✨ Please come see me in Hereford tomorrow if you’re free, I don’t want to be a billy no mates 🩷

HEREFORDSHIRE Come see me at the Herefordshire Book Social and nerd out with me about all things darkness and wildlife 🌌 The perfect kick start to your autumn! 🍂

West coast UK people! It’s Manx shearwater fledgling season. Dim those lights or better yet, turn them off, to help our fledglings get the best start on their first voyage at sea 🌊 Coastal light pollution is causing them to become disorientated and strand in land. Many can’t be saved and die.

Please share the info in the photos above from Manx Shearwater Rescue. They’re based in Pembrokeshire but can advise if you find one wherever you are! Gloomy, stormy nights seem to be the worst for strandings, so think dark, think safe, save our manxies 💙

Today marks the first day of meteorological autumn, and the birds know it… I was lucky enough to see this ‘mega roost’, tens of thousands of swallows all feeding together ahead of their long journey across continents and ocean to Africa. Incredible sight.

True darkness returns! Our first night with true darkness has taken place, and now we take a steady stroll towards the equinox on September 23rd 🌌 Take a peek outside and you may just catch the glitterball that is Arcturus, which is currently dazzling in the Western sky ✨

Not Dolly 😭 She was truly the best of us. Heart and hair bigger than Tennessee and just the most glorious woman to have ever graced gods earth. I will always love you, and I will always try to be a little more Dolly 🩷

Compared to this month in 2025, I receive £183 more income a month (Yay!) However, bills have increased by £334.02 a month. This is all just mortgage, insurances, council tax, water etc. No subscriptions, no frills. Does not include food and diesel. No wonder everyone feels skint. We are!

Not sure if anyone speaks bee, but what could this red tailed bumble bee be trying to say? Today a neighbour complained that a shrub in my garden was bringing too many insects in. That’s the point of the shrub, I replied, as I had this little one clinging to the sleeve of my jumper 🐝

So proud to be flying the flag for darkness on the @endsreport.com Power List 2026! Privileged to have made the list of top 100 most impactful environmental professionals, there are some amazing people doing incredible things on that list, and all of us fighting the good fight for nature ✨

FITBIT USERS So, the switch from the old app to ‘Google health’ has totally ruined Fitbit for me. The app is unusable. I don’t want Google having my health records. I don’t want an ’AI coach’. Plus it’s just ugly. Anyone recommendations for a different fitness watch?

No Mow May Day 5 offerings: Very pretty Common Cornsalad. No idea where that’s come from. Germander Speedwell, always a favourite with me! So delicate and colourful. Wild strawberry and some mint has also arrived. Lovely!

UK households made up of straight couples; have you also had electoral ‘literature’ sent to your address from Reform, addressed only to the male in the house? All other literature from other parties has been addressed to both of us.

Amazon will pay $20.5 million to settle allegations that two of its Oregon data centers helped contaminate groundwater. This is exactly why communities across the country are organizing to stop data centers — and winning. Never doubt your power to change the system.

Walking through the pitch black dunes in gales and I get the absolute life scared out of me by a Typhoon jet. Was really weird seeing its glowing engines in the dark night. Pretty unusual activity, anyone else been buzzed by them this evening?

My long and rambling point is - if you truly want our society to have more kids, then support the families, build the village that is needed. I promise you, instances of issues we face in society like anti social behaviour, VAWG etc will start to drop.

Society pushed families into having kids and then turned their back on them the minute they needed support. This is what Plaid understands. I don’t feel like any other party does. That’s why this little leaflet actually filled me with hope when it dropped through the letter box. Please vote wisely.

I was loaned an instrument, a clarinet, and I treasured that battered old thing. Music and the arts were the first things that were cut from social schemes, and are under attack again from parties like reform who don’t see their worth. But guess what? Those lessons kept me in school.

We started off ok until my dad got sick. Then things got bad, rapidly. My parents did their best, but when there isn’t enough money, it impacts all realms of your life. Those who say money can’t buy happiness don’t know what they’re talking about, quite frankly. Without stability, you drown.

As the eldest sibling I was ‘lucky’ in a sense, as I was the last to benefit from social schemes such as free musical instrument lessons. That scheme ended with my year. I loved music, I was very good and it was an escape from things at home and the academic subjects that I struggled with

You hear the same old arguments ‘we got by and made it work’, ‘it’s never the right time to have kids’ and I vehemently oppose these stances. I grew up in poverty, despite having two parents who worked until my dad was too poorly to work anymore.

I know how our society treats and judges families in low economic households. The shame and guilt are crippling and stay with you for life. Society wants you to have kids until those kids need support through benefits and schemes like free school meals. Then they treat you like a societal parasite
