Because we've shown the Govt itself runs unsecured networks, the entire hacker community has rubbed their hands with glee with an industry that is devoid of standards or accountability.

📢 Australia’s cybercop is dealing with an 80 per cent surge in attacks as criminals and foreign governments use new AI to target the country.

Shocking news in that Haines has had both legs amputated. Maybe not the right place to comment ... but the ABC felt it would be good to announce this with MP Haines holding a goddam bicycle.

In the last 24 hours we've had record profits for Ampol, and NAB sacking 2500 positions while also raking in inflationary profits. The only thing trickling down in this economy is the hubris.

Great democracy in the world is now very clearly the worst Dictatorship in the world.

Meta suspended the No Kings Instagram account today. Mark Zuckerberg is fixing elections everywhere. The US should charge and imprison him Voter Coercion (via silencing the opposition) can be punished by 5 years in jail.

This house in Champion Rd Tennyson, was once home to James Squire. Ryde Council have approved the demolition of this gorgeous Federation home. Why can't we keep just a bit of heritage? Sydney used to have a grocer on every street corner. Now there are Real Estate Agents, literally on every corner.

Outspoken tech rant incoming. This is EXACTLY why the people in charge of tech are to blame for many things that go wrong. You adopt a chip that can manage temperature remotely. That's amazing! Practical use? Refrigeration - should not allow heating to 50*C! TL;DR: The issue IS NOT THE EXPLOIT.

So you get your tech guys, and you say ... make sure the upper threshold is no greater than "x" *C. Yes firmware should be updated - please tell me the chain of tech command are no longer working there, starting at the top). Hacker logic - you left this door ajar. I'm going to walk through it.

I'm so glad that the NSW Parliament was declared "Safe" ... from a guy in a suit brandishing paper. What were they thinking he'd do? Give tem a paper-cut? Storm in a fucking tea cup. Ironic phrase given that coal is resulting in far, far greater storms.

Stolen from a 'friend' on Facebook. Note this is a kid from high school who was a questionable character. Not a lot going on upstairs. Holy shit some people are stupid.

Well there’s your justification for the next Creative Cloud increase.

In addition to Microsoft, administration officials said on Thursday that software giant Adobe and other companies will be suspended from the PERM program, the Labor Department's permanent labor certification program.

Our Govt brings in Meta to discuss engagement addiction/bait. In the meantime, here’s 18 notifications from an app I hardly interact with other than check daily (and clear my noti’s). It’s like whatever they’re in trouble for, these tech companies double down on their shittery.

One Nation says AI is coming for Australian jobs then used AI to make their campaign video.
They didn’t hire an Aussie videographer or Aussie editor or Aussie actors.
Turns out it’s only ‘Australian jobs first’ when One Nation doesn’t have to pay.

So many government websites. “By mistake”. “Went rogue”. Wake the fuck up politicians. You are being absolutely played and it’s galling to watch.

Senator David Shoebridge@davidshoebridge.bsky.social

Allowing Open AI to call these “rogue agents” lets them dodge responsibility - they made them, directed them and set them free without caring about the consequences. Our laws need to catch up to hold them accountable before worse happens.

A bloke I was suss of has gone full right wing conspiracy. A fellow photographer and local footy supporter, this guy is (was?) the photographer for Lismore Council. A wonderfully diverse, tolerant community. The 🚩was when he posted anti-feminist bullshit ... and he has 2 lovely young daughters.

I have always used and trusted Apple devices. For what they are, they have always been reasonably priced. Recent products miss the mark. Apple is dieing. A screen that costs nearly as much again to add a stand + non-reflective glass. No 27" iMac. Mid-range specs, premium $$$. It's over, Steve.

This poorly formatted email is an official email from ASIC about my business name. It arrived 2 weeks after ABN business name expired. The payment portal doesn't support secure electronic payment methods, so I now have to go and type all my CC details, including CVV. @cameronwilson.bsky.social

I have an email to renew my ABN but the email is poorly formatted I am being cautious. The links go to a .gov.au address. The payment screen looks normal. And no PayPal or ApplePay, so we need to type in full CC details. Don't for a second believe this Govt is up to speed with IT security.

If Facebook crashes in the next 5 minutes it's because it put a News24 post in my feed, which I reported as a Scam trying to mimic ABC News. I'm sure it will set a few chains rattling.

"... claiming it’s been banned by Meta from publicising its upcoming performance… due to the show containing social issues." Gutless. Have been banned. Are performing a classic 19th Century play that highlights social issues.

NOW ON ABC NORTH COAST ... The Lismore Theatre Company is running the 19th Century play Doll's House by Ibsen. In promoting the play, the Director (among others) share posts of the upcoming performance. ** They have been banned by Facebook for a week. Presumably for sharing feminist content **

Meta brings you the Opt Out Festival. Sign up, then hastily opt out of surrendering everything about yourself to them (again). This is "If the app is free, you are the product" on steroids.

WIRED@wired.com

The Muse app continues Meta’s trend of opting users into data collection for AI training. It also nudges you to share your bank account, email, and passport information.

Why are we sick of the media? Kylie lit up the MCG on AFL Grand Final day. All the hits, all the energy. Naturally Footy on Nine would like to poll their audience. With a photo of Kylie where if you look you can see her bum. Of all the photos available to them, this is what they run with.

Last week I met with a Northern Rivers local, an incredibly talented wood carver. Graeme posted in a local photo group asking for help to capture his work. I couldn't help but offer my services. Graeme is a delightful person, however he's unwell, and penniless. (1/3)

We took 2 hours to shoot his pieces, using a large cloth backdrop I carry. We created 3 sides to block out as much light as possible (of course I forgot to take a Behind the Scenes photo!). His works are unique and come straight from his creativity and skilful hands. (2/3)

All of Graeme's work is for sale to raise a bit of capital. Graeme is 80 years old, and has his own challenges ... but you wouldn't know when you're in his company. The Northern Rivers has an amazing creative community. It was a privilege to meet such a talented craftsman. (3/3)

Seeing as though AI turns up stuff from all sorts of dark corners, I wish it could find where I put my viewfinder eyepiece and battery cap for my camera that I lost during my last job.

Happening right now. The Lismore Theatre Company is putting on the 19th Century Ibsen play Dolls House. A number of the LTC crew have suddenly been limited from posting and sharing promotional material on Facebook (including my photos). It is very likely they have been banned in some form.

I loiter in some online computer game lobbies while I work. Today an Oz shared racer shared a stream with 3 x US. When they cheered for Gulf of America I was concerned, but when they said Kamala would be a worse dictator, I gave up. There are parts of the US where the indoctrination has worked.

In this crazy world, keep one watchful eye on the hackers. No, not the ones siphoning off your personal data, the ones who dismantle everyday things such as tech and show you plainly how tech is being used to exploit some part of society.

WIRED@wired.com

A hacker collective pulled down a Flock camera and dumped its data. The files included thousands of videos and logs showing that the device captured 1.6 million images of 50,000 vehicles in 21 days.

Another day, another data breach. Quest Apartments. Texted me as I was, well, staying in a Quest apartment last weekend. I have stayed in a few, most of them via AirBnB. TL;DR .. at first we said it was minor, but it's actually a significant breach. Sorry about that.
