One of the coolest things (in my opinion) about print media, is that some pretty obscure games (and some bigger ones) are permanently recorded in history. Even if they don’t eventually get released. Debug is in local and national libraries, museums, archives, and thousands of private collections!

In light of what seems to be happening in games media at the moment, I would like to highlight something that I wish more outlets practised. Don’t grow too fast, such that when the slightest downturn means you have to upturn a whole group of talented folks’ lives overnight with zero notice.

The older I get, the more I understand why MySpace Tom just straight up went full time retired / travel photographer after selling MySpace

This is what I’ve been up to the last few weeks

Voidling Bound claws its way onto the cover of Debug #17! We learn why it's time to forget everything you expect from monster taming. Hatchery Games is pushing the genre into stranger, darker, and far more unpredictable territory Out now in premium quality print and DRM-free digital: debu.gg/17

The next FOUR covers for @debugmag.com have been confirmed, designed, and finalised. The fifth one is going to blow minds. We’ve had a stressful first half of the year, but it looks like things are falling into place for Q4 🥰

I just bought my second Switch 2 game of the year. Orbitals. With my own money. Will be reviewing it for the October issue of @debugmag.com with a special focus on the art direction. It looks amazing! One of the huge benefits of print media is the ability to show off high quality visuals 🥰

I’ve just seen that someone who’s game I quite liked has blocked us because we didn’t cover it… yet… We were going to, when the time was right 😭

We were half way through doing a story about a game, and the entire team have just been laid off. I wish I could say this was an uncommon situation, but it’s happened a few times lately!

Does anyone know who took photos for the features in early EDGE issues? Presumably it was multiple people, but they were never credited back then.

This BBC article was nice to wake up to this morning! All photos were taken at our recent Indie Showcase (part of NottsVGE) in Nottingham, and @debugmag.com events manager Alex Hunt is quoted about the importance of championing indies. I truly love that we can continue to host these showcases 🥰

Looking for starter kits, lists, or straight up recommendations for video games PR folks. We recently went monthly with @debugmag.com and I want to cover as many great games as possible. All regions and languages considered!

Even though it can be tiring, I am so grateful that I am able to travel around the world with my brother Nick, talking to game developers about their work for @debugmag.com There aren’t many people who can claim such fulfilment in their work, and I don’t take it for granted! Next month: Germany

You know how Develop:Brighton is a big conference with a small showcase… What if you, ya know, flipped that around? That could be interesting to see

I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but the cover of Debug #17 is quite possibly the coolest thing ever 🤩 I’m super excited about what we’ve got planned over the next twelve months!

If you’re in Brighton for Develop, do not let yourself miss BITs!
