Way too emotionally invested in Arsenal and Arsenal Women

On the one hand, I don't care about the Ballon d'Or and think it's total shite, especially in this extremely team-oriented era of football But on the other hand I'm ready to rip my shirt off and fight someone for our highest rate player being 15th!!! CL final and first PL in 22 years!

Do they actually think we're shit??? Pau Cubarsi in 8th. A defender for a team who does not defend. Willian Pacho ahead of big Gabi. God if we won that CL final on pens, would we even have someone top 10?

Carrick has not been sacked? What is going on. Ratcliffe and his cronies thinking they can squeeze some marginal gains? (Lose 2-0 instead of 3-0 next game). I am very pleased about this, to be clear

I love that he used the power move of benching his insubordinate superstar, and it was the exact same outcome... but with Bruno smugly watching on from the sidelines

man, we are so good and I just wish we would turn these sorts of performances into a 2 or 3-0 at HT for once! Brighton had 4 goals last week on less than the 1.11 xG we've created so far. Noni, Eze, Merino, Gyök, Ødegaard have all been very good though. Let's make it 2 nice and early plzzz 😇

PIF (and EA more generally) can get in the bin. Their biggest franchise is a slot machine masquerading as a (now completely terrible) football game, and I'd be happy to see them burn, frankly. May as well just pivot to predatory mobile games.

one thing I have to rant about, added time in the Champions League is absolute nonsense. You'll have 2 head injuries, a VAR check, multiple sub windows used, goals scored, and you'll get 3 mins added and the ref will blow 5 seconds before the time is even up. It's just shit

Gyökeres with the exact type of touch I've been complaining about Kai not making all game. That ball around the corner literally didn't happen when Kai was on, just passes back to the CBs

interesting to me that Bayern are letting us have the ball, looking for turnovers/tackles and countering. It's been really effective at getting 3, 4 or even 5v2s against our backline but interesting to see them do that at home

There will be other games 😎 World class finish

Feel for Eze but Mikel did the right thing. Eze couldn't get in the game and it wasn't really his fault, not the day for him. There was no space in the middle and he was getting forced back and losing the ball. There will be other games and he'll look great

people say Saka doesn't beat his man - Saka beats Alfonso Davies, one of the fastest players in the world, with ease - and then does his hamstring passing the ball 😭

I am desperate to see Arsenal play this Barca side. It's the kind of match up that I think would make people think Arsenal are the most beautiful, free flowing attacking side in the world

Joan Garcia with 8 saves in the first half. Barca gotta find a way to stop the constant turnovers, they commit loads forward and are having to defend counters over and over due to poor passing

Barcelona cannot pass the ball for shit here. Yamal has done a handful of amazing things but also been terrible, and directly culpable for PSG's goal

I can't believe they've allowed that Marmoush goal to stand. I know it's most likely not intentional but he's gained an advantage by elbowing a guy clean in the face!

Man Utd's season so far has me watching far too much Mark Goldbridge content. He's got a massive beef with Rio Ferdinand and it's so funny. Goldbridge is calling him an influencer 😭

if only there was a sample of, say, 5 seasons of Arsenal being one of the best teams in Europe. Then maybe our coach wouldn't have to defend his team for *checks notes*... winning a match away at Forest.

Arsenal’s burden, which is seemingly heavier than most other teams’, is that we have to win the *right* way. We either please them or our manager has to “defend” why we didn’t make them happy. This burden is assigned to us by the media - but also by a chunk of our own supporters. It is absurd.

Feel for Eze but Mikel did the right thing. Eze couldn't get in the game and it wasn't really his fault, not the day for him. There was no space in the middle and he was getting forced back and losing the ball. There will be other games and he'll look great

He's a great guy he's just not elite. That's fine! He has some elite qualities and that colours the perception, but he's still gonna be valuable to us. It's a long season and he can score goals.

Konsa and Rice massive in getting us this result. That's proper effective recruitment, buying players who get you results on the pitch (Although Konsa did play Delap onside, but his performance was great regardless)

arseblog@arseblog.com

This is a team that knows how to win. We played poorly today really, but still found a way. It's effective, but not pretty. Got away with a couple at the end, the Murillo chance was huge, and Konsa's brilliant defending denied Delap. Madueke made a difference at HT - worked hard for his goal 👍

This is why I love this team so much though. We always compete, we get shit done It was ugly but we got it over the line, and it's Noni!! You don't get to have it your own way all the time, but I really think we are the best at finding a way when faced with that.

Stereotype? More like HERITAGE.

OptaJoe@optajoe.com

32 - Since Mikel Arteta became Arsenal manager in December 2019, they have had the joint-most 1-0 wins in the Premier League of any side (32, level with Everton). Stereotype.

People are gonna complain about this win I'm sure, we don't know how good we've got it. That was an absolutely monstrous win from Arsenal As Noni says, "first of all I'd like to say thank you to my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ"

Unironically the best take I've seen on this game All will be solved with simply "doing a goal"

Poorly Drawn Arsenal@poorlydrawnarsenal.com

One thing I’d do differently in the next half is that I’d have us score a goal. I think that would be fun.
