I've now completed 30% of my masters program. At this pace it will take me another 2.5 years to finish. I honestly thought I'd progress more quickly, but I'm really struggling to keep up. Still maintaining a 4.0 though. So I'll just celebrate before the next class starts - Psychology of Leadership.

As I read this article the word contradiction comes to mind.Trump preaching less government regulation for corporations yet seizing control Claiming to make our streets safer yet he pardoned all the 1/6 criminals and he is protecting a pedophile and is using the military against civilians

We’re not just approaching authoritarianism in the U.S...we’re in it now. Trump’s power grabs (mid-decade redistricting, DOJ weaponization, court-packing, civil liberty rollbacks) are the hallmarks of competitive authoritarianism...democracy in name, but ruled by force and manipulation.

The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate. The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns. Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care. The list goes on and on. Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

Oh. "This is about whether we have functional constitutional government in this country. If the IRS can go after you because of what you think or what you believe or what you do, we'd no longer live in a free country.“

NEW — This AM former HHS staffers confronted Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN) about slashing budgets and staff, per video shared with me by Mack Schroeder, a former Budget Analyst for the Office of the Secretary.  Banks tells Schroeder he "probably deserved" to lose his job "because you seem like a clown."

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.

Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying. They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks. From WCVB: youtu.be/PuFIs7OkzYY

USAID is part of the federal government and directly controlled by the administration. USIP is an independent, congressionally chartered organization, meant to operate outside executive control. The takeover of USIP violates USIP’s independent status.

This. Shout this from the rooftops. Add in the propaganda that tricks voters into thinking this is the American way and you’ve got the MAGA playbook.

🧵I know what the Trump administration is doing to the country because they’ve already done it to rural America. They stripped public schools of funding. They closed our hospitals. They sold family farms for parts. They let our infrastructure rot. And then they gerrymandered us to keep us quiet.

Republicans just passed a measure, “each day shall not constitute a calendar day”. Their legislation that a day is not a day seems to prove the truth of Burke’s observation that by trying to force reality to fit their ideology, radical ideologues will end up imposing tyranny in the name of liberty.

I don't know if the Democrats in the House and Senate have the ability to stop the GOP, but any Democrat who votes for anything the GOP puts forth at this time is a traitor to our country. Every Democratic Senator must use every Senate procedural maneuver available to stop this madness.

I been checking out Scoopz and that's a bit of a right-wing gathering place. Someone claiming to be from California actually commented, "They say he's trying to be a dictator. I'd rather have a dictator than the hell we've been through the last 4 years with Biden!" And you know what? I believe them.
