seeing multiple reports of new dmca takedowns on cookie's bustle content. if you end up getting one it's not a huge deal just annoying, if you send an email to the address listed in the claim asking for a retraction you'll almost assuredly get it. here's a template you can use pastebin.com/KqTsg0Li

@jamellebouie.net Hey Jamelle, whatever happened with Bodo’s Bagels? Did they back off of intimidating their employees from organizing? I might be misremembering the exact details but I do remember you posting that the owners were being jerks to their employees a while back.

I had advocated for this at a previous job because our style guide was over 120 pages long and even then the template was super finicky to wrangle in Word. (Was blown off about my recommendation, but that’s neither here nor there.)

Going to do a presentation with my director about this in the new year and how it can help us with an upcoming project that is going to be very large in scope and size.

Lastly, it just works! If I build the PDF, it spits it out the same way every single time. If I add figures or tables, I don’t have to futz with margins or anything. When there are issues, it is easy(-ish) to fix them.

I’ve basically recreated our Word template in LaTex and it takes seconds to generate off of a dataset instead of minutes! 🤯 This is just off of a very small document. Larger files have an incredible time savings, especially if multiple iterations end up being needed.

First off, LaTeX is relatively easy to learn. As someone who’s only real “coding” experience is VBA, I was a little worried that LaTeX would be difficult to wrap my head around. However, since it’s just putting a document together piece by piece… it makes logical sense from the get go!

Secondly, since TeX (and LaTeX) have been around for decades, the ecosystem is robust and very friendly. Can’t figure out how to do a specific thing? There’s either a package that encapsulates the whole process or someone else has had the same issue and the solution is easily found.

Alright, I'm going to get into good trouble for this! For each like and repost I get on this I'll donate $1 dollar to the @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social. I'll keep counting until Monday. @frankcifaldi.bsky.social & @philsalv.bsky.social wish me luck! Hopefully the org gets some decent money from this.
