Gave my talk at Devoxx.be today. Went pretty well — ratings so far average 4.5 out of 5. Only one actionable suggestion though, that many of the slides are distracting. Fair point; I can work on reducing the number of ones that aren’t terribly important, even though some devs like them.

Bummed that I can’t go speak at NDC London (ndclondon.com), because I won’t have my Portuguese residency card by then. (Probably at least April.) Until that happens I can only leave Portugal once, and that’s reserved for Devoxx Belgium (Devoxx.be) next week.

We are moving far away. Just like any home improvement project involves at least two trips to Home Depot, moving involves at least two donation trips to Goodwill, plus an extra per time zone difference or similar change of latitude. I feel like we should be getting some kind of loyalty rewards.

Today’s #Mead Adventures: First, bottled the Acerglyn from a friend’s honey, so I can give her some before leaving! Second, I will soon give away all my brewing equipment and supplies, other than honey. The move to Portugal is slated for July, so probably no adventures until August or later. ☹️

Today’s #Mead Adventure: Racked the cold-crashed Acerglyn to a new carboy, and backsweetened with 8 oz of syrup. Now at about 1.021 SG and 15.5% ABV.

Today’s #Mead Adventure: Finally racked the acerglyn from primary to cold-crashing, stabilized, back-sweetened with half a cup more syrup, and made up racking losses with another half cup of water. Anticipated SG 1.013, ABV 15.5%. Didn’t start another batch since we’re moving soonish.

We broke the monolith into microservices to improve reliability. Now, instead of one thing failing… we have twelve things failing in parallel with better metrics. #GeekHumor #RockYourCode

As of this morning, I am RETIRED! At least, from coding and advice. I will still speak at conferences -- next is Software-Quality-Days.com, but I'll be going light on the speaking and other travel until at least October — due to the other big news, which is MOVING TO PORTO, PORTUGAL, around July!
