Ran some numbers on my total revenue from my novels, all indie published. The total revenue number is surprisingly large, although I've spent more than that on producing and marketing the books. A lot of indie authors don't see much return from KU, but it's been a major part of my readership.

Sixth place in the fifth Self-Published Science Fiction Competition (SPSFC) goes to Time Traitors by @elidonovanwriter.bsky.social. Judges called it a romp with a "cast of scientific and seedy characters all trying to avoid becoming dinner." spsfc.space/2026/10/08/t...

I had a great time with Artificial Selection by @mariannepickles.bsky.social , which I read for the 5th annual SPSFC. A great pair of main characters, and a very cool post-climate-disaster dystopian setting, not to mention an action-packed mystery plot. Check it out: www.amazon.com/dp/B0DGGM8DLK

I really, really enjoyed Our Simulated Selves by @nikkinull.bsky.social , which I read for the 5th annual SPSFC. Groundbreaking, heartbreaking, thoughtful, well-written, and a real powerhouse of indie sci-fi. www.amazon.com/dp/B0FDR8JPXK

We're coming into the home stretch for our campaign, which finishes up Monday evening. If you'd like an anthology of 34 cool stories from indie authors (and who wouldn't?) for as little as $10, plus gift copies for as little as $5, pledge today. Have a look! www.kickstarter.com/projects/rvb...

Just under two weeks to go to get a copy of this great short story anthology with stories from 34 authors, delivered either in a beautiful hardback, an ebook, or one story a day for all of December. You get everything for as little as ten bucks. www.kickstarter.com/projects/rvb...

New-to-me scam: fake accounts stealing the names of artists I've hired on Fiverr and contacting me with sob stories about sick grandmothers. One just wanted money; the other wanted more art commissions, which I assume would have been AI slop. Beware.

A hundred ratings for Best,! That's the quickest any of my books has reached that milestone.

Our anthology funded, so it's coming out! Don't miss 34 cool stories by indie authors. Still two weeks to get on board. www.kickstarter.com/projects/rvb...

Getting closer!

I'm part of a massive indie author sale, all speculative fiction, all discounted or free. You can search by genre and for representation of disability, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC also. Have a look and find a book! indiebook.sale

The dauntless competitors of the Just a Minute gameshow at the Los Angeles WorldCon 2026! @laworldcon.bsky.social

My first fantasy detective story is free as an ebook until September 1st. Enjoy magic, swordplay, vile villains, scheming nobles, and no shortage of derring-do done. And if you like it, there's a whole series! Also available on audio. books2read.com/frosthelm

Had a fun chat with some other authors about an anthology we're doing this fall on the Indie Fantasy Club show. www.youtube.com/watch?v=feGt...

I'll be on the third of these as moderator! Come join the fun.

Yay! 100 ratings for Unwelcome Matt, my cozy-ish mystery about a librarian who comes home to find a dead guy in her house.

Here are the events I'll be part of at the upcoming WorldCon in Los Angeles. I'll be around the rest of the time too. Let me know if you're there and want to meet up!

My novel, Unwelcome Matt (part cozy mystery, part thriller) is on sale for $0.99 this week. It's a story about a librarian who comes home ready to evict her deadbeat housemate but instead finds a dead body on her couch and the housemate vanished. Get a copy here: books2read.com/unwelcomematt

Our book, Best, is free as an ebook until August 11. Grab a copy on us and enjoy this funny, romantic tale of two professors forced to work together who might just be able to set aside a decade of mutual distaste for each other. Maybe. Get it here: books2read.com/bestbook

Congratulations to the SPSFC #5 finalists! It was a tough competition to get to this final round, and I look forward to reading the three new ones on my plate.

Six books have advanced to the finals of the fifth Self-Published Science Fiction Competition (SPSFC). We'll announce them in random order in the next six posts.

We thought we should choose the truck side of the rest area with our U-Haul, because it's a truck after all, but I don't think we measure up.

Hit a cool milestone with the 500th written review of one of my books on Goodreads.

I really love this art Jesus did for our upcoming anthology. If you're into short speculative fiction from a huge gaggle of authors, please check us out. Would make a fun holiday gift for a friend or relative, and they can get a story a day advent calendar style.

Detailed review of Kenai from Berthold! Books do lead to books, and power armor rocks.

Rex is very kind. ❤️

Check out our anthology!
