I turned #BBC #Today off at 07:35 after they announced that #Fartage would be on soon to describe his lifelong fight for #Brexit. A life full of failure then, eh, Nige?!

@johnspiers.co.uk I think that's the point of the book - democracy is trumped by wealth. See also 'Brave New World'.

Squeezy John@johnspiers.co.uk

Jacob Rees-Mogg’s dad wrote a book about this decades ago called “The Sovereign Individual” whereby people with enough money combined with enough international loopholes could be more powerful than a nation. There can be no democracy in a world where we allow that to happen.

America is *now* an ally of Russia? I'd argue it started in 2016 when the Trump campaign and the RNC softened the language on providing lethal defensive weapons to Ukraine as part of the Manafort/Kremlin/Yanukovich "peace plan" to cede Ukrainian territory to Putin. But okay. We can go with "now".

"A world in which the White House is allied to the Kremlin was, until now, the stuff of paranoid fiction. Manchurian candidates and red presidents were fantasies, dark tales Americans told themselves like ghost stories... "But this alliance now exists." www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...

The timing of these French riots is interesting in relation to the US mid terms. The riots are being blamed on the far Left, but surely Russia is involved. It all conveniently reinforces Trump’s demonisation of anything ‘left wing’ and that Europe is in a state of collapse due to multi culturalism

Well, they may be unable to sleep in an overcrowded airport. Many in Kyiv and other Ukrainian kingdoms don't sleep because bombs / drones are dropping. Think on.

Anton Gerashchenko@antongerashchenko.bsky.social

The chaos at Moscow's airports has continued for a second day, with airspace repeatedly closed due to the threat of drone attacks. All four Moscow airports suspended operations, leaving hundreds of flights delayed or canceled.

Yeah,, all of that makes sense (well, other than the bot about #BBC Newsnight inviting the Russian in to explain away their involvement in opinion-bending).
