Trump administration is planning on opening up vast tracks of land, including National Wildlife Refuge land to upland bird and migratory fowl hunting. Call your representatives. #birds #nature

Defeat of the transportation funding measure didn't really translate to a bump for Diehl over Drazan.

Definitely some good deals to be found. Found a Chief Joseph lodgepole pine $20 cheaper than other sources. Checking off Mother's Day gift to replace one that got scorched last year.

Preordered this terrifying thing a while ago to pick up at the show. Waited until I was leaving to pick it up because navigating crowds with a large metal implement that doubles as renaissance reenactment tool is not the move.

Lychnis flos-cuculi 'Petite Jenny'/'Ragged Robin' is the hot ticket this year. One in every fourth wagon. The poor woman at the one stall that carried them now has to spend all weekend turning folks away.

Drove over the top to Bend this weekend. South Cascades snow levels are indeed low--6-8 inches when it should be 6-8 feet. That means the higher elevations will come online for fire much earlier this year. With a major mid-July or August lightning bust, we'll burn more big holes in the canopies.

Not sure what sort of omen a daytime coyote appearance may mean, but I'm going to assume it's not good. (It's not the biting coyote from west Salem, unless that one learned how to cross a river or bridge and travel across town.)

After congress rescinded federal funding from public broadcasting, I've made it a point to buy merch and make donations to small community stations. Any leads on other fun stuff on offer? Here's what I've found so far...

If you don't need more stuff in your life (congrats!), find a local station and make a donation. The big metro stations deserve support but have bigger fundraising operations. Dig a bit deeper for a small community station or find one that's lost 50% or more of their total revenue: adoptastation.org

Launching with a PSA: If you haven't cleaned your laundry dryer vent in a while, definitely make that happen. A DIY brush is $25. Add a vacuum/shopvac and drill and you're good to go. I'm ashamed at how much came out but relieved my house won't burn down...at least for this particular reason.

You are up to date.
