Astounding breakthrough in Quantum Mechanics made in collaboration b/w Google Maps and the LA Transit Authority: LAX has been enveloped in a time dilation field where it indefinitely exists "just another 10mins away"

For rpg players to embody their PCs, they must first experience the 🍷terroir of death🍷. Lore cannot penetrate the narrative shield of players, only experience conveys tone. The greatest failure of Modern & "Story" games is forgetting the audience has to experience a thing first hand to believe it!

Like Ted said, we’re giving away TEN one-year Patreon subscriptions to celebrate 10K YouTube subscribers! 🥳 A Patreon subscription grants you first access to Return to #Dolmenwood, exclusive Discord channels, merch discounts, and even more as the tiers go up.

LOVE all the indie games out there gesturing towards ~97'-05' "low-poly", but think ~93"-95" Art Direction is wildly neglected (hexen, etc). Aesthetic that biases texture painting in amazing ways. Even those that aspire to it tend to create over-complicated meshes and muddy the vibe.

*SPOILER ALERT* In case you need to catch up before watching today’s new episode of Mythic Bastionland, here’s a recap of Episode 14: Ashes to Ashes. TL;DR: it was entirely uneventful and nothing went wrong. 😬

New Half-Orc Seneschal class for OSE! Ever wanted to be a scheming eunuch? A suspiciously well-connected courtesan? A steward who has a bit too much sway over a lord? Rough sketch exploration for the Blooming Shovel. "Should you find yourselve buried alive by this shovel, worry not! Succumb to the earthen blanket knowing you'll wake invigorated by the morrow with any wounds or maladies haunting the prior night forgotten."

Whether it has been a while, or you held off because of the audio quality, now is the perfect time to jump into the campaign that started it all. Remixed episodes of #Dolmenwood are available wherever you get your 3D6!

Our adventurers are still recovering from the dramatic events of last session, so there will not be a new episode today. If you are looking to fill the gap, may we recommend the newly remixed #Dolmenwood campaign? The audio is clearer than ever before, which may or may not be a good thing…

Every contemp AAA RPG is written like The Vampire Diaries. Thing is: everyone understands VD is a telenovela; its great bc the genre is understood & pleasure earned accordingly. AAA RPGs being lauded as "Storytelling Masterpieces" as if they transcend this mark? not earned.

Crazy how much having a weekly game, for a game you developed, causes you to rethink said game. In other news big updates coming to Pilgrim’s Passages in the future.

Follow up from my previous post. The page count & page size of your game are not your "product." If we want to do product thinking, the design, writing, art, & total curated experience of your game are the "product." Telling me the page count & size tells me nothing. Tell me about your game.

re: last I'll add writer/illustrator friction (inflicted by publishers and/or the market) is a storied subject and my observation is aimed at shrinking the gap rather than growing it... I don't know how we foster this w/o re-education over "fair price" and "what's enough" on the consumer end.

For example: something like $1/page would be a totally reasonably pricing framework (and padding out would be self-defeating). "Zines" (again what does that even mean?) ranging from $10-40 is a great deal for a consumer with an infinite horizon of use.

my spiciest take is that CC is spiritually identical to AI & tho I hold no ill will towards those who use CC, it should be understood that it acculturates us to the same artistic suffocation

The profit req'd for writers to get exposure is too great, so the hobby leans on CC as a bridge to affording illustrators while living in denial that art sells games more than text -- what follows is a lot of empty gesturing re: "supporting craft" or "DIY" that reinforces anti art sentiment.

A pernicious cycle in ttrpgs is collector brain driving race to the bottom pricing -- they chase dopamine hits from buying 10 things they dont read rather than 1 they really want & for all the craft talk, theres no true zine culture bc readership demands a publisher's quality.

So many #TTRPG designers and devs asking social media how they should price their games. Stop. Thats not how it works, and watching old white dudes tell people games should only cost $3 is depressing.

in an ideal scene everyone would pay more & buy less -- and that allows creators to *afford collaboration* that would actual foster the "craft culture" so often espoused.

i say this in full support of writers getting their work out there ofc -- just highlighting the pressure stems from collectors conflation DIY with "i could do that" and bouncing off (well deserved) price increases that would advance scene's craft.
