Avery Brooks is of course amazing in Far Beyond the Stars, but shout out to Rene Auberjonois for his portrayal of a man who *knows* what is doing is wrong, but feels he can't stop it, and Cirroc Lofton who has to bring home the core message. Amazing.

Well, that was a quite bizarre experience.

I'm really enjoying the @toohot4tv.bsky.social eps on Torchwood, discovering spin off media I never thought possible! But mostly, it's confirming that - Children of Earth aside - I'm really quite indifferent to Torchwood.

As a lad, I thought the Supreme Council Dalek was just the coolest thing… and the way he sweeps in to exterminate the section leader for failing to eliminate the Thals is great!

By my reckoning, the Dr returning Jo to Earth at the end of Planet of the Daleks is the first time he properly steers the TARDIS without a conceit (stolen part from the Monk, the Time Lords did it, following the Master etc). It’s actually a big change for the show.

I've never had a problem with the Dr's surprise here; yes he was expecting Daleks, but he NOT expecting an *invisible* Dalek! IMO the real sin is that the spray-painted Dalek of ep 1 is a perfectly painted Dalek in ep 2!
