I recently revealed what I consider to be my 25 Favorite Games of All Time. There are plenty of great games I have yet to try, so I am curious to see how much of this list will change. (And yes most of this list is intentionally in alphabetical order)

As somebody who grew with anime in the mid 2000s Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter feels like a throwback. Sure there was too much "Kingdom Hearts dialogue" towards the end but the world building, voice performances, and Orbal System were all still a delight.

I decided to take a look back rank the games that played during 2025. I'll be doing the same for my 2026 games at the end of the year.

Orbitals is a visual delight and plays great for you and your partner. But I do feel some disappointment with how short the game is (about 6 hours). By the end, the game feels more like a proof of concept and a sequel would only be necessary to flesh out the game's missing potential.

Deadlock’s newest update just dropped. IT. IS. BEAUTIFUL!!! New map design. New UI. Six new characters. And so many new voice lines. Finally! Mina & Pocket conversations!

We have been getting some great games throughout 2026 but I'll only be playing a select few: Orbitals, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, and the Ocarina of Time remake.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave (Switch 2) is ~$59.99 at Walmart when using code FAST30 or SAVE3X at checkout buff.ly/1wN0qg7 #ad if code doesn't work, try switching to pickup. If that doesn't work, add a banana (weirdly this worked for me with FAST30). Banana: buff.ly/xpiWilf

Let’s continue down the rabbit hole!

I took my first step into the Trails series with the Sky 1st Chapter remake. It's a game with high highs and forgivable lows seeing how Falcom is a small studio making multiple games at once. Props to their project management. I can see why the Trails series is not for them. But it might be for me.

2027 is already shaping up to be a year to remember for JRPG fans: - Xenoblade Genesis - Pokemon Winds & Waves - Final Fantasy VII Revelation - Kingdom Hearts IV - Persona 4 Revival - Persona 6 (maybe?) So many heavy hitters already.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is supposedly one of the easiest games in the series. But I found that it still provided a good challenge. Despite my enjoyment I do think that this game had potential to be much bigger than how it turned out. If only the game got a bigger budget...

Yoshihiko Ito has only been at Nintendo 10 years but I think he has a bright future as a Director: Splatoon 2 + Expansion - Planner/Game Design Splatoon 3 + Expansion - Planner/Game Design Animal Crossing: New Horizons - System Planning Splatoon Raiders - Director

I really REALLY tried! But Dragon Quest 11 has a super simplistic, and sadly predictable, story about light vs dark that does not justify the 60+ hour playtime. Most stories in Dragon Quest games are simple but they don't overstay their welcome.

I can appreciate the artistic vision and integrity that Alan Wake presents. But playing/controlling Alan Wake himself is where I have issues. Limited mobility, less stamina than the Souls games, awkward platforming, easily overwhelmed by enemies, and a flashlight gimmick that loses its novelty.

I took my first step into the Trails series with the Sky 1st Chapter remake. It's a game with high highs and forgivable lows seeing how Falcom is a small studio making multiple games at once. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is a unique experience. A tower defense visual novels doesn't sound appealing but the episodic storytelling inspired by sci-fi films makes it work. Admittedly, this game is more story than game. But if you end up liking the story, you'll be in for a wild ride.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma bites off more than it can chew. As a farming and social simulator, it's great. As a story based action game, it's bland. Otherwise it comes pretty close to what I personally would want from a farming simulator.

Just finished my first Castlevania game (Aria of Sorrow). Short. Simple. No overbearing tutorials. Protagonist has an interesting gimmick that made me want to fight every enemy I encountered. I am genuinely interested in other games within this long running series.
