I'm not voting for the tax the billionaires proposition in California, even though I think it's a good idea. I just think it's a bad idea for one state to do it. It should be part of the federal tax code so billionaires can't avoid it by claiming another state for their residence.

Let's say you screw up at your job, and in a big-time really embarrassing way. One way to handle it would be to admit you screwed up, apologize, maybe make a joke about making such a big mistake. Or you could handle it the way #EricSchmitt has, and look like even more venal and incompetent.

Now that #JohnRoberts has achieved the central project of his entire legal career -- the destruction of the Voting Rights Act -- I believe he will retire at the end of the Court's term. What a shameful #ChiefJustice he has turned out to be.

Sergey Brin, co- founder of Google, says that if the one-time 5% billionaire net worth tax passes in California, it will turn the state into the Soviet Union. Brin's net worth is $219 bilion. If this passes, it would cost him about $11 billion and leave him worth only $208 billion. Soviet Union!

"Call out the instigators Because there's something in the air We have got to get it together sooner or later Because the revolution's in the air..." -- "Something's In the Air" by Thunderclap Newman, 1969 This country isn't working for its people. And we have got to get it together now.

Curiously enough, I think Trump was wrong to cancel Bill Maher's Mark Twain award, but I also think it was wrong in the first place to give the award to him due to the fact that, well, he's just not funny and never really has been.

AI investments are the single greatest misapplication of capital resources in the history of capitalism. It's a scam, up there with cryptocurrency, driverless cars and private companies doing trips to the moon. Nothing of importance will come of any of these things.

#KashPatel is the annoying little twerp who shows up at fun parties and acts like he was invited but really wasn't and no one knows what to say. And then he gets drunk and commandeers the sound system and plays "Heat of the Moment" and sings along and then gets dizzy and vomits.

Whether you like figure skating or not, Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir are best commentators on any sport right. They are fans, but don't hesitate to criticize and they explain the sport for lunkheads like me in a clear and understandable manner.

Howard Lutnick is living proof of what I've long suspected about successful finance guys: they aren't really that smart, but are charming, and good at sales. And that is it. They don't create anything, they don't make anything, they don't move the world forward in any way.

Jeff Bezos promises that data from readers will lead the Washington Post to a new era of success. Uh, Jeff, a newspaper like the Washington Post is not an online store selling books, records and trinkets. So shall we be reading articles about celebrities and pro wrestling now? Because data?

I was born and raised in Minnesota and lived there until I was 27. Here are some of the things I love about my home state: 1. The state high school hockey tournament 2. #BobDylan, #Prince, #TheReplacements, #HuskerDu 3. The people who live there and the dignity of their protest.

Historically, the coldest day of every year in Minnesota is the third Saturday in January. So every third Saturday in January, it's Hockey Day in Minnesota. All high school hockey games are played outside. People love it and stand in the cold to watch. That's the mentality you're dealing with.

The #WorldCup cannot be played in the US right now. And I say this as a lifelong fan and someone who was so excited to see it here after more than 30 years. #FIFA members must demand that games scheduled for the US be moved to stadia in Canada and Mexico and that no games be played in the US.

I got an email from Kaiser telling me they needed my home address to finalize my insurance coverage for the year. What's curious about this is they mailed the letter to my home address. I don't really know what to do next. Paralyzed by anxiety about this.

My goal for 2026: a small grand piano in my house. Can't afford one now, but that's my goal for 2026 -- something happens that allows me to go to a piano store and buy a nice, 6' grand piano. Maybe a Yamaha (which I had once) or a Boston or a Baldwin.

I've been watching #"Friends" lately, and the actor who clearly impresses me the most is... #MattLeBlanc. He is consistently asked to do more than any other actor in the ensemble. And he clearly has the widest range that he is able to go to of any member of the cast. He's not just the dumb guy.

Pope Leo wants us all to go to movies in the theater. Normally, I would pretty much ignore what the Pope has to say, but in this case I'm on board. Honey, we're going to the movies. The Pope said we have to. Do you want butter on your popcorn? (I'll just have the Dots, thank you.)
