Please don't do the "vote blue no matter who" thing. That is exactly how we got the bill AB 2047 in California and restrictions in states like NY, Colorado, Washington and more. Take time, learn, read, vote and hold people accountable.

The FIRST ever bass I have seen and had a chance to play. Version one is amazing. Can not wait to see what they bring to Formnext!

I would like everyone to know I was finally able to get a clip of Old Gregg in an upcoming episode of 3D Printing Nerd after all these years and it's perfect.

Is anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area (specifically San Mateo county) interested in meeting with state senator Josh Becker to discuss #AB2047? If Silicon Valley of all places can't secure a No vote on this bill from a single Senator, manufacturing (and democracy) here might as well be dead.

(5/6) Legislature is effectively asking DOJ to define what qualifies as acceptable detection technology. Those policy choices, not just technical details, will determine which products can be sold in California. Yes. Really.

(6/6) Before California mandates software on every consumer 3D printer, the Legislature should be able to point to evidence that this approach works in practice, not simply hope that it will.

(3/6) California already criminalizes illegal manufacture of firearms. AB 2047 shifts regulation from bad actors to general-purpose manufacturing equipment used overwhelmingly for lawful purposes.

(4/6) Someone intent on violating the law can simply obtain equipment outside California, build one from components, or use open-source alternatives.

(2/6) Bill assumes that software can reliably distinguish firearm components from millions of legitimate mechanical parts. Geometry alone doesn't provide that distinction. False positives & negatives are mentioned, and DOJ is being asked to certify technology that is ok w/ that.

This is going down on Thursday and I can't make it. Please tune in and ask them about AB 2047 in CA. I know this directly affects the @tested.com team. Should be an awesome conversation with wonderful humans!

Why are we so upset about bill AB 2047? It allows for a company partnered with the biggest AI surveillance company, Palantair, access to your life. The things the bill claims to do are already illegal and those crimes are down significantly. I want a safer world just like you. This is not the way.
