Thursday night check out John Le’s segment on my story and comic work on @queencitynews.bsky.social . How I went from a broken back being told I’d never walk again, to Mercer and Kevin Smith and everything in between.

Can’t believe it was 5 years ago. Ah the delusional mind I had then. I genuinely believed one day I’d get to play with this toy in some official aspect b/c I love it so much. Sometimes our dreams are dumb. Even though my covers do well, it doesn’t matter. Which sucks b/c this is in my top 5 favs.

Some people will never learn. Even when you’re trying to help them. After they lied to you, lied to you and blamed someone else, and aren’t half the friend to you you’ve been to them. You still try to help them. And they write entire monologues about how above it all they are and no one gets it. 🙄

Nothing irritates me more than genuinely trying to be friends with someone and even after they’ve blatantly lied to me, multiple times; still trying to be friends with them and having it thrown in my face. The comics industry is full of this I’m realizing more and more. It’s unfortunate.

I have never ever attempted to draw @robertliefeld Youngblood. I was 12 when they hit. Image was life. I was more of a Spawn guy but I bought everything. Chapel’s appearance in Spawn was the coolest thing 13 year old me had ever seen. Today a buddy asked me to try to do something Youngblood so I am.

Got the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of the greatest comic book that’s ever been made. I don’t know why @JamesGunn doesn’t have a cartoon series of it in production right now but he should. Seriously, @grantmorrison and @frankquitely1 created a masterpiece that is miles beyond anything else.

This got me. @JamesGunn you beautiful human. The fact that he put White Rabbit in Peacemaker and made her canon is awesome. Seems a cool villain, even if it’s kinda silly here. Loved this!

Another smudge glove bites the dust. I’m going to have to start a whole separate fund just for gloves. I’m going through about a glove a month now. Which means I’m drawing a ton. Luckily I have 3 or 4 more in reserve. I can’t draw without it.

Spider-man Reign 2 was dope! Someone let Kaare Andrews have a Spider-man line. Let him take the @toddmcfarlane.bsky.social route on it. Loved the more mature Spidey. He would crush it! Speaking of Todd, @thomashealy.bsky.social why on earth hasn’t Kaare had a run on Spawn? That would be crazy!

The humidity change lead to a pencil lead change. Drawing with F lead felt like I was penciling with a razor blade. Had to bump to 2B just to get that smooth glide again. Sheesh!

Free hand inking a spaceship feels wrong and disgraceful and unnatural. Yet I’m doing it to try and preserve some bounce in my lines. We’ll see if it works….if not, out come the rulers and templates.

I don’t think I’ve ever shown these. I use them to track progress on any book I’m working on. It lets me know what I’ve done, what I need to do, what I didn’t like and need to revisit, everything. It keeps me organized as I work through this massive undertaking.
