I guess to balance the craziness of last week, the only logical thing was that the first game I worked on 31 years ago finally got remastered.🤪 store.steampowered.com/news/app/175... I've not tried it yet, but analog controls should be a nice fix!

store.steampowered.comTime Commando - Time Commando's first update in 30 years: play it on the preview branch - Steam NewsFor the first time since 1996, Time Commando is getting an update. Play it today on the preview branch and help us shape it.

Upload access has been disabled on the Defence Force apache server which means posting messages is now impossible. This will be restored after the php update has been successfully been done and validated.

For the ones wondering why there's been no updates on the Oric Dungeon Master these few last weeks: Let's just say that there's been a number of "curveballs" and events that took precedence and had to be handled. And now there's a critical php exploit. *sigh*

I was not expecting somebody to manage to get a decent texture mapping on the Oric, it's slow as hell but it works :) Well done!

3D printing is not magic, but it's very handy! Now the control monitor fits under the screen and follows the angle and shape of the Stream Deck. The sticking HDMI and power cables are not ideal, but good enough for now!

Dedicated dashboard on a 7" screen I had laying around. 😅 It was supposed to be a control monitor for when recording my youtube videos but ended up not using it because it was too cumbersome to move it around.

In an ideal world I would have bought a new SSD for the server, but with the insane prices I'm just going to reuse my old 250 GB 860 EVO to replace the even older 120 GB 840 EVO.

We are living in a very exhausting time-line, we somehow took the wrong turn at some point, but there's no easy way to rewind and go back to a saner one.

I'm impressed: I'm building something for halloween that involves a single 18650 battery and a bunch of quite bright LEDs of various kinds/colors and I wanted to see how long it last. It's been on for 11 hours yesterday before I stopped it for the night.😯

And it ran in total for 23 hours before shutting off. I guess I'm not going to be worried about how long it can stay on during the party :D

I was not expecting heavy snow falling on the 10th of October. It will not stick because it's over 0c, but still, that was unexpected.

What would be for you the emblematic 80s headphones you'd see people outside with their portable cassette player have? 🤔 I've been trying to find something like that but I'm hesitating between multiple options, which I don't provide to not influence the answers!

Well, if you feel like playing a retro adventure game, lovingly crafted in C and 6502 assembler over a period of multiple years before Claude and ChatGPT were a thing, feel free to get the game, it's currently in sales at $2.00 on Steam (without DRM). ⤵️ store.steampowered.com/app/3319780/...

store.steampowered.comSave 33% on Encounter: A 8-Bit Noir Adventure... on SteamRace against time to save a kidnapped teen in 2 hours! Play as a cunning PI, diving into a thrilling mystery. Type commands for retro vibes or use arrow keys to pick actions, crafting solutions to con...

I almost forgot to set-up the itch autumn sale 😅 At this point the number of new units sold is anecdotical, so not that it matters much, but does not hurt doing it!

Funny, each time I see this image I have the same "Oh, I did not remember we sent a version to Microids to see if they were interested in publishing our game back then"😅

Now with the side view and the level one distance "shape of a text" squigles. Text is important in this game, it contains clues about how to solve puzzles, you don't want to miss them.

So for the ones wondering, the development is getting slower because the memory is getting very very scarce, like I basically had to implement some kind of "DLL" equivalent for things like the initialization of the game module, inventory management, etc...

Digital downloads are for sure more practical than physical media, but they don't beat having the box of a game you worked on in your shelf!

I totally believe that my Oric text adventure game is a perfect fit for the "UEL Winter Championship 2026", so I'm totally going to pay the $999 developer participation package! 🤑

During Sommarhack 2025 someone suggested I sent a message to the Retro Adventurers, which I did just after the party. I had forgotten about it so I was very surprised to hear my name this morning when listening to the latest episode! That may explain... youtu.be/abqPdzxhuIo?...

I watched the documentary yesterday, I did not know that military (worldwide) was excluded from all the calculations about pollution/co2 emissions. Recommended, but clearly felt a bit depressed after watching it :-/

I think the #1 thing I dislike about Unreal Engine game code is that contrarily to the previous engines I worked on, you can't ever assume everything about the state of the application, so all the code, all the time, checks if there is a valid UWorld, valid UActor, etc... ⤵️

I generally design my stuff so you can only reach a specific function, module, state, etc... if all these pre-requisites are guaranteed valid, so the code can directly use all it needs without having to check if any of it is valid: That has been vetted before it was called. ⤵️

That's why it's important to test a game after a major codebase refactoring. I wanted to push an Encounter bug fix for the "market place glitch", started testing and realized that the bottom of the directional arrow was missing, reason being a zero terminator being black ink.😱

And another one... That one looks like I had set the wrong size on the book, but that was not visible until the previous version when I added some new items just under it because the purple color actually means "transparent". 🙃

Sure sign you know too much about modern tech: You buy a sewing machine and make sure there's not a single bit of programmable thing inside, fully electro-mechanical, no firmware, no digital display of any kind.
