Sarah Waters reads from her novel The Night Watch at the #DCUBookClub. The novel follows the relationships of three women - Kay, Helen and Julia who represented 'bits of me' when she started sketching out the story, but who then 'became their own people'.

Sarah Waters was drawn to writing historical fiction as a way to explore gay and lesbian subculture and engage with social history. Gaps in women's stories from the past can be frustrating for historians, but fiction writers have a license to fill in those gaps. #DCUBookClub

Sarah Waters talks about The Night Watch, her 'novel of relationships' at the #DCUBookClub. She immersed herself in accounts of the lives of women in 1940s London during and after World War II when researching the book.

All Them Dogs is set in Djamel White's native West Dublin and tells the story of Tony's attempt to prove himself in the criminal underworld. The Booker judges praised the author for his ear for 'racy and unreal' dialogue and for creating characters that jump off the page. #DCUBookClub
