Sharing some news: I have received a Macdowell and a VCCA fellowship for my new book Black Composition. I still find that writing is the balm. Even in this age. If you’d like to help defray some of the small travel expenses please DM me for my cashapp/Venmo info. Thank you!

Praying for the safety of every last New Orleans resident tomorrow in what is going to be an "unprecedented" police and military presence at the Super bowl. Particularly praying for everyone with the courage in the current climate to go to this demonstration. **Thank you.**

I came on here to skeet about how scary it is that these machines are taking complexity and turning it into a code that people will read as a binary. Everything will be either right or wrong. I don’t think much intellectual growth happens this way.

All month I’ve been trying to push out a sample draft and I don’t hate it but I am a much better writer when I’m not stuck writing at home or in my neighborhood. If I actually had research funds I’d be in Vermont or something.

I’m also not sure what I wanna do about attribution. Trade books have gotten ridiculously awful at reducing and remanding citation to the dustbin. It’s the first thing I look for in recent books. I don’t like this trend.

I could easily include ten notes per page in this draft. There has to be some happy medium here though. I may ask to do a bibliographical essay. But it would need to be inside the book and not a QR code on the last page.
