Last weekend, we were so honored to host the annual Cutting Sign to the Legal Profession Conference at SJQ. We had so many law students from all over the U.S. to come to Salt Lake. A big thank you to our amazing partners and sponsors for making it happen. The future is bright!

Honored to have U.S. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch join our Tenth Circuit Tribal Relations Advisory Committee meeting and dinner in Colorado.

Really enjoyed hearing SJQ alum Judge Jared Bennett (JD '01) and Judge Dustin Pead’s presentation on sovereign citizens at the Tenth Circuit Bench and Bar conference. I learned a lot!

Really appreciated hearing Utah @govcox.bsky.social and @govmlg.bsky.social (D, NM) speak on the importance of disagreeing better with Judge Shelby moderating at the Tenth Circuit Bench & Bar Conference. So glad our governor is willing to champion the cause.

I was honored to be invited to attend Justice Jorgensen’s investiture to the Utah Supreme Court today. I enjoyed hearing from all of the esteemed speakers, including U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.

I was so impressed with the Utah Law Review and Professor Nicolás Parra-Herrera, who led the fantastic annual Lee Teitelbaum Law Review Symposium.

I had a great visit with some of our Lehi alumni last week!

Enjoyed the chance to join the @theaals.bsky.social and LSAC webinar "Preparing Tomorrow's Rural Lawyers" to share law schools' important work to close the rural access to justice gap and where challenges still remain. Providing access to legal services in our rural communities is so important.

I spent a great 24 hours seeing some of our Las Vegas alumni. It was good to catch up with Matthew Frazier in Salt Lake City and then Marc Risman in Las Vegas.

Enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate the investiture of SJQ alum Stephen Dent to the Utah Supreme Court.

Really appreciated the privilege of speaking to the Utah Center for Legal Inclusion fellows on Friday. Our fantastic alumna Christina Jepson mentored a future legal superstar, Nevaeh Parker.

Really enjoyed a gorgeous wildflower hike with family in the mountains yesterday! I never thought to explore the ski resorts in the summer, but Snowbird was stunning. I feel blessed to live in such a beautiful place.

A wonderfully enriching meeting of the American Law Schools Executive Committee in Asheville, NC. I have never visited before, and it is lovely.

Despite challenges, we had a lovely trip to Portland and Seattle to see our fabulous alumni and donors! Special cameo appearance by our former SJQ director of development, the fabulous Kevin Carrillo.

Loved celebrating my colleagues Amos Guiora (couldn’t attend) and Bob Keiter at @utah.edu's annual faculty awards. Bob received the Hatch Prize in Teaching, and Amos received the Presidential Impact Scholar Award. So blessed to have such amazing faculty at SJQ!

Had fun filming with @utah.edu's Swoop today! It’s not every day you get to hang with a celebrity.

Moot court madness ended with an amazing final round in front of Chief Justice MacDonald (New Hampshire), Judge Federico (10th Circuit) and Justices Hagen and Peterson (Utah). Kudos to all of our amazing students who competed, and especially those recognized with awards after the final round.

Moot court madness continues! We hosted the semi-final rounds tonight joined by amazing alumni to judge the rounds. Tomorrow’s final round will see Team J argue as petitioner against Team C as respondent. All are welcome to attend the final round at 4 p.m. tomorrow (March 31).

Loved participating in the Big 12 Law Deans’ virtual collegiate sports law CLE with @mccannsportslaw.bsky.social and moderating a panel! Kudos to @uhlaw.bsky.social Dean Leonard Baynes for hosting a fabulous event. I enjoy these Big 12 events, and it is fun to collaborate with our friends.

It’s that time of year: Moot court madness! The annual internal Traynor moot court competition kicked off Friday with 22 rounds and over 60 judges. We are down to our four semifinal teams, who will compete tonight at 5:30 p.m. A big thank you to our amazing alumni who took time to judge!

Great visit to Park City to see some of our amazing alumni. Our lunch and CLE was hosted at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard headquarters. So cool!

Great trip to Arizona! Loved catching up with our amazing alumni. I was honored to join representatives of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah to discuss access to justice in our states. Plus, we celebrated Violet’s birthday.

Super proud of our 4 teams who competed in the National Native American Law Student Association moot court competition hosted by @northwesternlaw.bsky.social. One team, 2Ls Lily Closson and Brenden Anderson, advanced to the Sweet 16, where they unfortunately lost to Columbia.
