I swear to you that to think too much is a disease, a real, actual disease.

Dang this book is a rollercoaster

sue@deathbear.bsky.social

Reading Vincent Delecroix's Small Boat. Just light lunch time reading that gives me a stomach ache

never 'partied at a club' (unless forced) but I did go to punk shows friday and saturday nights almost every weekend during highschool. Also loads of concerts/festivals. VFWs etc

jon christian@jonchristian.net

kids today are literally confused about whether "partying" was real or an urban legend

I wanna make a totem/effigy of Claude to sit on my desk. So I can have something to be mad at in the physical world. I'm tempted to repurpose this furby figure I made.

Also this is stupid but my company has a new toy out in beta that lets you make a song using AI generated singers. I made a song where I wrote lyrics about the monotony of working with claude and it's been stuck in my head all day. Like my own terrible song has been stuck in my head.

Billy is like "you're in your office on the computer.. ON THE WEEKEND??" This is how much I hate computer. I only computer if being paid to computer. I am having fun and that's the only reason I'm on computer right now

I use claude for a lot of tedious audits and migration work and also doing analysis of data and all that stuff. And I end up with a lot of big walls of text to read. I've now started making Claude save them to "the vault" (my obsidian vault) It's been so helpful for pulling up month old contexts

I have a hack day project I only get to touch 2 days of the month and since the last time I've completely migrated our codebase to a new design system. I kept all my migration audit docs in the vault so Now I'm like "look at the vault, update all the files based on that"

so u think it's cheating in soul collage if I print my images off the internet? there's only so much 1970-2000s natty Gs can do for me

My muse, Wade, from Next Door. (Neighborhood cat who was found and their owner posted this insane photo of them licking their food)

we have summer break at work and I am excited to take a break from my most irritating coworker, Claude, who I spend all day interupting and correcting, yet is held in god-level regard amongst the leadership team.

PS- I still have covid symptoms and an extreme desire to leave the house. I have put on a 'not for outside' outfit to keep my ass inside. But it's my town's art festival weekend and I want to go so bad. 😭 Ai ain't helping me with real problems like this.

I am not an AI shill, BUT I think this depends on how you use it. I give it a list of tasks to do that I planned. I don't let it think for me. I also find it to be very iterative. I need to make it refactor a lot. I have to stop it often because it does things wrong. Like 50% of the time.

If I let claude make a thing without telling it all my opinions I end up with a bloated react app with a questionable API. Does it work? Yah. Does the code look equivalent to a legacy app I've been hired to fix? also yes.

I have also found that letting it do bullshit work has given me time to deep dive into learning niche things. BUT, i am old. I have been working in tech for over 2 decades. I am not going to give up how I learn/wanting to learn after using claude for 6 months :/

I have talked to new engineers using it and complaining they aren't learning much. They also do the new engineer thing of paroting a hatred of tech stacks they have never used, and AI is a yes machine, so that... is unfortunate.

Being sick for almost 2 weeks makes my patience very thin, and I need all online stores to not show me a modal asking for my email within seconds of visiting the site.

I am going to make it my life's mission to destroy the internet for everyone if one more shop shows me a modal before I can even see what the fuck they are selling.

We are on a cruise with Billy's family and a guy dressed in rubber duck clothes came on the elevator. He is one of the people who hides the ducks! he gave us this and it has an in memory of Cathy on the back which is so precious I am going to cry

it's a weird cruise tradition where people hide mini ducks all around the ship. I always find them and then move them to other locations. Though I did accidentally keep one from the last cruise.

I had to read Machiavelli's The Prince in highschool and it confirmed what I always suspected... that everyone is evil 😑

My son just posed a lovely question: What piece or pieces of media -- movie, song, book, TV show, article, poem, etc -- has really changed how you think? (How you think about life, about the world, or just how you think.) Would love to hear your answer.

I am watching The Perfect Neighbor and I know this is going to make me cry. I don't like kids messing with my stuff either, but these kids are so cute and silly.

This woman is an absolute nightmare. Talking this calm after you just murdered a person like you didn't just murder a person... what drugs is she on

Claude ran out of Sue tokens today. Today was an especially hard day of 'good catch!', 'you're right!' and I am using Opus. Also it updated and set itself to xhigh, so it was Extremely expensive while it was being fast at being wrong all day.

Didn't she 'die'?

Our writer Taffy Brodesser-Akner interviewed Tilly Norwood, a computer-generated character described as “the world’s first A.I. actress.” She left exhausted. “It was the feeling of being at a computer all day. It was a dehydration of human interaction,” Brodesser-Akner writes.
