I’m taking a break from my big Halloween project - it’s a lot of black stitching and I needed some color. What better transition piece than Tiny Modernist’s Mouse’s Pumpkin Pie. This is a very fun, easy stitch! #crossstitch #stitchsky

I’m taking a break from my Halloween stitch to work on this one - Piped Plovers by Bad Stitch. This is so fun to work on! #crossstitch #bigbirdbundle #stitchsky

Holiday Samplings - Halloween by Primrose Cottage. Progress as of September 28…I’m almost ready to move my hoop! This might be my largest project so far. #crossstitch #StitchSky

Local #news tells the story of our communities, but much of today's journalism exists digitally and is at risk of being lost. NYU Libraries and Portico are launching a new project, with support from the Mellon Foundation, to help preserve born-digital local news. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4fJavUa

Some summer evening stitching…Christmas stitching in July! This is a fun pattern by an Italian cross stitch designer that goes by myFanny (aka Clotilde Cherubini). #crossstitch #stitchSky #ThingsSaferThanEatingSalad

Kicking off a week long staycation with a finish! Crescent Crab, designed by Fine Frog Stitching - completed June 25, 2026. This is part of the Beneath the Waves collaboration. #crossstitch #stitchsky

#FridayReads The U.S. Constitution: A Comprehensive and Annotated Guide for the Modern Reader by Melissa Murray @profmmurray. My semiquincentennial read! #booksky

For my #philately friends! #stamps

“If you’re passionate about something, stick to it, even if you’re bad at it,” retired MSU art professor Alex Bostic said. “You’re going to eventually get good, & that’s what I teach my students. … Success is when talent & opportunity meet, so work on your talent because opportunities will come.”

Sigh…as the local librarian who is also a philatelist…and gets all the stamp related questions…the short answer is no. Sure, there might be a hidden gem in that stamp collection…there might also be a Picasso under that painting of dogs playing poker. But the odds, they are not in your favor.

Completed April 30, 2026. Festive Cardinal by Max Pigeon/Pigeon Coop Designs. Stitched on 14 count Fiddler’s Cloth. #crossstitch #stitchSky

#FridayReads Keep it Simple Y’all Every Day by Matthew Bounds. I had sworn off buying cookbooks but there are some authors you just want to support. And I love his practical approach to cooking!

Bewitching Toad by Shannon Christine. Completed March 29, 2026. (Halloween and Christmas craft projects are always in season!) #crossstitch #stitchsky

Bewitching Toad by Shannon Christine. Progress as of March 22, 2026. (This is a fun one but the greens are more of a challenge than I thought they would be!) #crossstitch #stitchsky

Boreal Bounty by Max Pigeon. Progress as of February 22, 2026. This was maybe a tad ambitious for someone who had only completed a handful of small ornaments! #crossstitch #stitchsky #wip

Wow. The number varied throughout the session but topped out at 76 attendees in this morning's online plagiarism workshop. Not bad for a less-than-exciting subject on a beautiful Starkville morning! #mississippistateuniversity #msstate

Well, my Friday just got a whole lot better! A colleague came by and asked if I wanted this great old set of stamp albums. Two volumes of the Scott specialty series for South America. There are some stamps but these are great old albums even without the stamps. ❤️ #philately

Progress as of Jan. 27, 2026 - Boreal Bounty by Max Pigeon. This is my largest project to date. I’m not fast, but that’s ok. Some of the world’s most beautiful tapestries were created one stitch at a time. Just like change - small steps matter. #CrossStitch #CrossStitchLifeLessons

I’m a day late with #FridayReads because of storm prep. This week: In Praise of Slowness: Challenging the Cult of Speed by Carl Honore. Thanks to my library’s ILL for the access!

I’m not a fast stitcher but I’ve made good progress on my patriotic project from Shannon Christine. It’s a great design but, w/ the last couple of weeks, I’m just not feeling it. I decided to switch to something that more closely reflects my mood & this pattern by Max Pigeon is perfect. #crossstitch

To all who celebrate, Merry Christmas! I post this image most years - it is one of my favorites. It is the first dedicated Christmas themed stamp issued by the United States in 1962.
