5 days to go on the Apex Kickstarter. They're at $16,446 pledged of their $21,000 goal. Times are hard and money *sucks* right now, but if you can drop a dollar in the hat, it would probably help.

Jason Sanford@jasonsanford.bsky.social

Apex Magazine @apexmag.bsky.social is doing their annual Kickstarter and I urge everyone to back one of the genre's most constantly amazing magazines! BONUS: If you share this post you're in the running to receive a signed book from me. Details in thread. 1/ www.kickstarter.com/projects/ape...

@the-lettersea.com this one's amazing. It's so bittersweet, yet so uplifting!

You may not think you need "Techniques for Folding Time and Space to Fit Into Your Nightstand," but read it anyway - the techniques you learn will have helped you in the past:

Many, many thanks to @nicowritesbooks.bsky.social for doing these reviews and interviews (and especially for including me! Squee!)

October's Stardust & Verse poet interview is with the incredible @deborahldavitt.bsky.social! "Poetry is not reserved for white-gloved docents in a museum... Write what means something to you!" Now free to read for patrons at all levels (free & paid). www.patreon.com/posts/171320...

They're almost there! Keep the momentum going!

Lightspeed Magazine@lightspeedmagazine.com

We're now 95% funded with 61 hours & $2300 left to go! This is Kickstarter, so it's all-or-nothing, meaning if we don't reach $50K the campaign doesn't fund. So if you've been thinking about backing, now's the time—and if you already have backed (thank you!), please spread the word! bit.ly/LS-NM-26

Nico is reviewing spec poetry, which means the *world* to me. Getting people interested in reading poetry is hard--you have to make it accessible to them, in a way that doesn't condescend, but at the same time, makes the process less scary. Which they manage admirably! Check out Nico's Patreon!

8. “The Dragons of Kepler-62 b” by @deborahldavitt.bsky.social in @sfpoetry.bsky.social's Eye to the Telescope A vivid, fierce setting with a grand and sweeping atmosphere. Lovely blend of SF & F that captures the ancient, free spirit of its dragons. eyetothetelescope.com/archives/061...

I adore Lightspeed and Nightmare and have stories in the queue, waiting to be read by YOU. As such, I'm pretty invested in seeing @lightspeedmagazine.com succeed--and I just backed their Kickstarter! They have four days to go, and need about 10k--can you help? www.kickstarter.com/projects/lig...

kickstarter.comLIGHTSPEED & NIGHTMARE: Award-Winning SF, Fantasy, & HorrorWe've published nearly 10 million words of science fiction, fantasy, and horror short fiction. Help us write the next chapter.

I am recycling a failed cake this morning into cake pops! But, as I'm making them, the terrible pun "Cake Pop Demon Hunters" flashed through my head, and I think someone out there is sleeping on a merch opportunity :P

Well, I have finished Nighthawks, and other than an OOPS with a major NPC dying that I'd rather not have? Got my personal "best ending," I suspect. Really, really enjoyable game! I suspect I will peek at some content now and see what other people have done, though. . .

There is some *lovely* human-made character art here, which is so difficult to find in the age of slop. Go take a look!

Eren Angiolini@erenangiolini.com

I'm currently working on the 60th TTRPG portrait package for my Patreon. 🤯 It's hard to promote it as much as I should, so I'll take this chance to do it! Shares are appreciated🙏 The ArtVenturing Guild is an ever-growing library of fantasy character art for TTRPGs: www.patreon.com/ArtVenturing...

I am *loving* Nighthawks so far. The writing is *smart*, and NPCs don't do the *convenient* thing for the player character--sometimes, they can be damned *inconvenient* and annoyingly smart, in a "Damnit, how'd you find out I told the doctor THAT??" kind of way. :D

Nighthawks is OUT! When the sun sets, outcasts rise. Gather new friends, face old prejudices, and prepare to seize the night in Nighthawks, the vampire RPG where the secret is out... but the hunt continues. Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/1221950/... GOG: www.gog.com/en/game/nigh...

Oooh! I had a chance to read some of the poems in this collection before it was accepted for publication; it's amazing, and it's wonderful to see this go live!

Daniel Ausema@danielausema.bsky.social

The publisher's site lists a few options for getting a copy right now: www.islandofwakwak.com/the-fall-of-... (I've come across listings on a few other sites as well, so pick your favorite bookstore and see if they have it)

I've been quiet about this one until I had some definite news, but this book is available now!! It's a book that's both taken a long time to come to fruition and a whirlwind of a rush at the same time. Published by Island of Wak-Wak, the same as my poetry chapbook from two years ago.

A writing friend has created possibly the creepiest creepypasta I've ever read, in the form of a video game walkthrough. Please do go read!

I believe I had the pleasure of reading this one in rough draft form; there's an aching yearning to the prose that works very well with the topic! Check it out. :)

Happy to announce that my two poems, "knotwork" and "cold determination" are forthcoming in the Cozy in the Apocalypse anthology from Angry Gable Press, edited by Naomi Simone Borwein and Chun Hyon Lee. angrygablepress.com @angrygablepress.bsky.social Many thanks to the editorial team & staff!

This is live now! I loved Redfern's emotive, yet philosophical reading! As I noted elsewhere, this story is a masterclass in the effective use of *refrain*.

Story Hour@storyhour.bsky.social

This Story Hour, Redfern Barrett and Deborah L. Davitt left our heads spinning with the vast potential of SFF! These four tales are all completely different, comparable only in their excellence. You can still watch! @redfernbarrett.com @deborahldavitt.bsky.social youtu.be/6TIbLV927Yc

The story I've been working on was *supposed* to land at 6k words. Nice. Neat. Marketable. Damnit, brain, I did NOT need to write a third novella this year! They're hard to sell! Not to mention it's a weird blend of genres that is ALSO unsellable. *grump* Anyway. Finishing the thing.

Soooo excited about this!

Story Hour@storyhour.bsky.social

This week, two SFF authors make their Story Hour debuts! Redfern Barrett and Deborah L. Davitt will transport us to their realms of fiction. Join us Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. PDT! @redfernbarrett.com @deborahldavitt.bsky.social www.storyhour2020.com
