Has anyone found non-American tech platforms that they've actually migrated to? The $$$/data bleed and vulnerability is real.

My parents are now entirely getting their information from either what they see on Meta (including the Meta LLM) and the Google AI. Training them to defend themselves from not using social media to get their news is *rough*.

In Alberta, is there a downside to putting on a Canadian car-flag? Is the benefit not worth the effort? Have I wasted my time and money?

Now that the foreign investment summit is on-going, ask a wonky friend the difference between Branch Plant Foreign Investment vs. the healthier versions. Because an informed citizenry can defend itself.

Recommend and put a Quebec band onto your playlist to support Quebec while Trump attacks them. (use their official channel, support them in the algorithm) Angine de Poitrine (microtonal wackiness) Charlotte Cardin (delightful pop)

Invective only sways me to your opinion if I care about your opinion. Spittle when I don't care about your chastisement only builds contempt. Burning bridges doesn't help. Deriding their Fifth Column doesn't help. Charisma and build power, do that instead. Health, wealth, status, knowledge

Canadia Interac debit competes for you tap with American Visa at the Moneris machine. You're getting bribed with 'points' that are less than the (local) business pays in fees to the bank, moneris, Visa itself (etc.).

If the AI model relies on "tempt people with cute free services until they give us money", then wouldn't massive consumption of free tokens disrupt the model of being able to provide 'free' toys?

Put up a damn car flag. $5 at the dollarstore. Buy two and give one to a friend who's too lazy to buy one. The US ambassador DIDN'T see a wave of flags when he visited Edmonton because of individual "there's no point". BUT ALSO, his local handlers didn't see resistance either.

He posted it again. We need more than just token efforts. BUT, if you can pivot someone *else* into more (easy), token efforts then the multiples add up.

Pretty happy I listened to Angine de Poitrine on a friend's recommendation (not for everyone, but it grows on you as background music)

You should have one and two more in your trunk to give to people who compliment yours. I've found that the dollar store ones are the best and only need to be replaced a couple times a year. It's only $15 annually to advertise to hundreds of people per day

My drain spout goes straight into the ground, but I realize the square footage of my roof is not *negligible* vs. my total footprint. But I put a large barrel under a spot where my eves drip quite a bit. Those gallons will buy time, especially if more people create a temporary reservoir.

Disclosure Day was quite disappointing. I'd recommend against seeing in theaters. Maybe not even on streaming unless you're in your B-roll bingeing

Today I saw somebody flying an Aruba flag from their car, which probably took more than $5 and 10 minutes at the dollar store to put up

I have seen 16 Oilers flags in the last 2 days, so it strikes me that my request regarding you putting up a car flag is not onerous or pointless

I'm starting to think that Andor should be required viewing for anybody with a revolutionary urge They definitely capture " useful idiot " Most revolutionary efforts end up making things worse, and history only teaches us about successes. You need historians that you disagree among you

Last night's dream was pretty spiffy, it was an entire mansion designed as an escape room. Gads of fun I realized I was in a dream and then started to frantically try to map out the mansion so that I could design it while awake. And then I only got one more room before I woke up

The guy didn't win the majority of the vote, and his signature action (tariffs) were Constitutionally illegal the entire time He's actually not a very good president

Most of our employees have names such I can use one hand typing to bring up their name in our software reports - e.g., I can type "ee" and only "Leela" comes up for me to tab over and confirm The other hand is doing the mouse, since the software isn't 'keyboard only', sigh Except for one guy, sigh

I think that it's pretty strongly true that Canadians are underinvesting when it comes to the boycotting and significantly underinvesting when it comes to pivoting their spending towards building social resilience against these exogenous attacks. I wish more people understood compounding benefits

Oxford Blueberries might be my cleanest and most obvious way of supporting the Canadian economy outside of donating to our research charities.

There must be a name for the emotion we feel when Keyser Söze straightens Verbal's feet while walking. Or when Vader tears through the soldiers at the end of Rogue One

If you're looking for a Canadian Content groundhog day movie, I recommend ARQ It's a type of movie that I quite love. Low budget, so they have to do a good job elsewhere.

When considering two products, it's passingly easy to check where the headquarters and main employment centers are. Then punish (R) districts if possible.

How can Trump show damages on the IRS leaking his tax records? He stated over and over and over that he *wished* he could release them.

Since ICE is becoming the increasingly loyal "Security Branch", there might be a time when it's members actually need to be targeted rather than harassed. You definitely don't want to pull the trigger on that too soon, but also not way too late
