Blehg, really not ready to do the birthday thing today. Still a little unwell, but calling off family stuff isn't really an option. I shall have as happy a birthday as I can dredge up :)

As an asexual mammal, a lot of people expressed surprise that I was at Pawsome. Well. Because nice people kept asking. Because I make and sell rubber stuff. Because I love the furry community and im supportive of peoples kinks. But, in all honesty, at heart, I didn't know why I was there either.

The highlight for me was setting up my little stall at the bring and buy - Not because I sold stuff, but because I got to talk to people about making things. After that, I got to go out in fursuit, which is always lovely. And catch up with friends But I was a bit at a loose end.

As an asexual, I'm not anti sex, or prudish, just disinterested. But when people all around you are putting in so much work to express themselves sexually, being disinterested is kinda rude ;) And when you can't give people what they want, that slowly builds to a quiet, sad, alienation.

Sorry for ducking out on people at pawsome. I discovered saturday night that you can puke so much from food poisoning your blood pressure crashes. So I had to go to hospital for a swift IV and a somewhat less swift 12 hours in the waiting room. The food poisoning had nothing to do with the con :)

The weirdest thing about being an artist is being financially insecure, constantly trying to make ends meet, and then having to turn around and price your work at the kind of premium rate most normal people can't afford. Like, I couldn't afford me.

Okay, maybe not unaffordable to most people. But the fact is I do make nonessential silly furry stuff. And it costs the same as serious stuff, like medical bills and car repairs. My idiot weasel brain obviously wants to price myself in happy rainbow dollars or skee-ball tickets…

The thing with this datacentre goldrush is that if you want twice the processing power, you can just... wait 3 years for the normal upgrades in hardware. What's the bloody hurry? Their burning money and energy just to race to somewhere we would reach regardless in the normal course of time.

Just a heads up that the title character of the horror movie 'Buddy' is a metaphor for all the squeaky clean celebrities working in childrens television that later turned out to be monsters. Before you get too invested in enjoying the pitch perfect character design. Maybe reconsider that cosplay ;)

I was trying to explain to someone why I don't worry about the environment and world affairs as much as I used to. I realized the answer is "I worried so much I broke myself, had to have medical intervention. And now I've taken anxiety medication for 20 years." And I still worry... Just less :P

Although I did also sustain minor brain damage. Always forget that part. Point is that worrying at about 30% power does the same amount of good for the world as when I worried at 200% In fact, it probably makes me more hopeful and likely to take positive action.

I see people online so ecstatically exited about GTA6, and I want to say “Dude, there’s not a game in existence that will bring back the experience you had as a teenager playing GTA”. Just go on twitch and watch other people enjoy games with a passion your tired soul can no longer attain…

I don’t say that, of course, because as an annoying video game weasel, I’m vulnerable to be dropkicked. Anyway, when are they going to get around to making a new ratchet and clank game, eh?

If you want to fight the good fight against AI imagery excess - commission a furry artist. Even if it’s just five bucks on stream for a goofy scribble of your character. Art is made of people, and thoughtful patronage has been what keeps art thriving for thousands of years.

I love that my doctors hold music takes time out to say that if I'm vomiting blood, I should call 999... I think it speaks to our nations looney stoicism, not only that some blood spewing punter might meekly wait on hold for 10 minutes, but that it happened often enough to warrant the reminder.

Just because I approve of a single recent UK government policy, does not imply I approve of everything they do. UK government is a process, not a bloody sports team. I'm just happy my city's buses are moving to public control :)

When I was a teenager, I saw Brian Eno on the train to Manchester. I looked sufficiently startled that he gave me a tight smile and a theatrical flex of the eyebrows. I was absolutely mortified, and avoided looking their way for the rest of the journey, despite facing them across the aisle.

Gah, I forgot how much REALLY like Tide. Although these days I'd wind up putting so much more right angles on 'em. Squared off brows, cheeks, the lot...

This is a great pic of Tide from @dairishgoat.bsky.social (Hey goat, got any more good pics of them? :) 'S all about those squared off paws. Soon as I saw those in the character sheet, I wanted to make 'em. Of course it also helps that Blue does such a fantastic job of bouncing around in them.

Remember, that was just a *severe* alert. Alerts also come in *extreme* flavour. Keeping in mind how a unnerving the severe alert noise is, I hate to think what the extreme one would be…

There's so much good animation about. Individual showpieces like this, or random stuff that goes hard in places it will never be appreciated. I feel no need for me to get back in practice and prove my chops. Or go trashy and crank the content wheel like I did years ago. It's a weird contentment.

I always want something abstract and textural on my phone. So it’s like an object, rather than a window. But then I don’t have a single poster or picture in my house, so I’m obviously some kind of freak.

No cheating, post your lock screen.

In the interests of Neurodiversity, I'd like to see a study into how many people find getting angry motivating to go out and seek change in the world, and how many are utterly paralyzed by it. Because, personally, I have a level of anger that gets things done, and beyond that, I'm useless...

There's all these hulkmonsters out there on bluesky who seem to revel in anger without limits. But most of my friends just get driven into despair when some random ally blindsides them with enraging crazy. And it takes days to get back on track.
