“AI is going to replace white collar jobs” is the latest cry. My question: isn’t that shortsighted? If AI replaces those jobs, and you follow that chain long enough, who actually will have the means to buy all the output of those companies? AI “everywhere” people need to consider what’s next

Instead, we need to continue to push for a world where AI and workers combine to produce higher level of productivity. Instead of software companies replacing all their developers they should look at how those same developers work with AI to rapidly fix bugs or identify and mitigate security issues

I’ve been trying out OpenAI’s new “Study Mode” and have found it to be very interesting. I tried two topics: Enterprise Architecture and Bet-Sizing in Texas Hold ‘Em Poker. I expected success in EA, but the poker to be less so. Poker surprised me and even ran through an example hand.

The Poker example was one that I didn’t expect to work. However, the agent asked questions about what type of poker I play, my playstyle and then a few quick poker position questions to see how I would act. It then ran through a full hand of poker, asking questions at each step. Quite good!

Today was an extremely rough day for over 9000 people at Microsoft, the second round of the layoffs. My heart goes out to all that were impacted, many friends and colleagues. My largest issue with this is that the reasons ring hollow. This was not necessary. We -as an industry- can do better

I am an amateur photographer so the photo manipulation that you can do with AI is nothing short of magic. Time to do experiments with my own photos and see what i can do. Step 1: understand the prompt structure and instructions Step 2: experiment. This should be a learning experience

I am constantly amazed at how far generative AI has come over the last <name your time period>. I haven’t seen this much change and new ideas since the beginning of the internet—which I was there for. The new trend around taking headshots and using AI to improve them is the tip.

How do you go about solving big problems? The complicated ones that involve multiple teams and processes. I see it all the time. Instead of making a hypothesis and then breaking the problem into pieces, many people just act on their gut and just take action, right or wrong. Good? Bad?

Risk is all about probability. What’s the chance of X happening and if it does, Y then results. People love a nice calculated number. It makes them feel happy. Until they are within the envelope. Then the question is “we should have done more to prevent this “. And it’s too damn late. Think

You are up to date.
