I knew that all along, but I can’t deny that I feel a little disappointed. That said, since I’ve always expressed myself through 2D illustrations and made a living from them, I can’t just quit now for that reason alone. I guess life is complicated.🙃

I’ve recently realized that I’m probably less able to form visual images in my mind than the average person. It’s not that I can’t imagine things; it’s just that when I try to imagine something, the images don’t really come to mind.

Watching someone effortlessly sketch a silhouette—complete with every detail—without even looking at anything, I compared it to my own creative process and intuitively realized once again that something was different about me.

While the strength or weakness of one’s inner imagination isn’t directly linked to drawing, this seems like a good opportunity to rethink the way I create my own work.

I’ve never had any intuitive doubts about this, and while I’ve continued to draw to this day, I’ve simply been unable to draw without reference materials. The rough sketches I make at first look like something a child would draw. Since I can’t draw the details, I add text to fill in the gaps.
