my fellow torontonians: please vote in the municipal election on the 26th. looks like the mayoral race is head to head between olivia chow and leukaemia. too many ppl don’t vote in municipal elections (shit this will be my first time) which is why we have too often ended up with diseases for mayors.

so lets avoid disease again this time. if you dont know which councillors to vote for in your ward, check the toronto star’s votecompass. it has a survey that will help point you to the candidates that are closest what you want for the city and where you are politically.

why would anybody want flying cars? how is that an exciting goal? think about it for 2 fucking seconds. do you want cars flying over your head? every time you look up its just cars & traffic? can you imagine the noise? the litter? the car accidents? the impact on birds & insects? its a terrible idea

the more you listen to people from openai and anthropic speak the more you realize they're deep insulated in a cult. it would be nice if mainstream newsrooms and politicians could understand that and adjust themselves accordingly instead of making this cult a problem for all of us.

capitalism is stupid for many reasons but just the fact that some candlestick-chart-brained boneheads in a stock exchange can change the direction of society because they either got fooled by vc swindlers or got nervous about future profitability of something is insane. it's crazy levels of stupid.

anyone else find it dumb that nations are competing against each other for technological advancement? “we need x amount of moneys to beat china at fusion energy” “we can't let china beat us at ai’ why can't you all just work together like adults instead of spoiled toddlers? your system is juvenile.

been reading about the climate impacts of private jets and… yea. make private jets illegal. period. nobody needs them. you want one? fuck you. get fucked. thing is, getting rid of them also means rich dicks might force the regular commercial airlines to be less shit. we might even get more trains!

you should want data centres destroying your communities cuz we're birthing the machine god that will find the solutions to all of humanity's problems! ignore the already existing & implementable solutions to humanity's problems and give us complete control over the world's governments & economies!

u.s. military pushing for work out gym culture content to appear in teenagers' social media algorithms to influence them to get in better shape to enlist or be conscripted.

always found it weird that men would get ridiculed for wearing a toupée. just wear the hair hat, dude. let the man wear his hair hat. it's ok. when people bald they often turn to wearing hats anyway. people do all sorts of things to look the way they want to. i don't see the issue.

what adobe products don't need: useless AI features. what adobe products do need: a decent UI/UX team working on all of their applications as if they are one cohesive package. but it's not like adobe gives af about the users that made their software the industry standard. only new markets! growth!

the canadian government is taking advantage of the fact that a large amount of ppl are unaware of just how advanced, efficient, and far along renewable energy and electrification has come and that we have the full ability to phase out fossil fuels right now. /1

and it's crazy because all of the taxpayer money subsidizing that industry could be invested in renewable energy and electrification that would make energy waay cheaper for everyone while cutting significant amounts of climate heating greenhouse gas emissions. /3

but we know the government is out of touch with reality just by observing how they're being tricked by tech industry grifters to go full in on AI and AI data centres as if that's actually a future anybody of any political persuasion wants aside from a handful of feckless tech billionaires. /4

the less people are aware of that, the more the discourse can treat oil and LNG as necessary for the economy in order to justify continuing oil and gas extraction and subsidizing a dying industry. /2

funny thing about this prepackaged phrase employers use on job ads on indeed is that i don't know anybody who actually *likes* social media. everybody i know uses it to varying degrees and likes some of the content and/or uses it for news and communication but generally speaking nobody likes it.

sheer political failure from two levels of arrogant neoliberal governance that sees human life as disposable & the climate crisis as negotiable. utterly shameful & embarrassing leadership in this country & province. total simps for oil capital. #cdnpoli #onpoli www.theenergymix.com/wildfire-sea...

crazy how simply getting rid of the camera isn't an option on their mind. you can get rid of it! you don't need it! no, really! you don't need it! you were taught to believe you need it but you don't. it only gives the illusion of safety and i know you don't actually feel safer with it. so chuck it!

and our government wants to build more crude oil pipelines and push LNG like a bunch of 90s movie villains. if you're going to knowingly poke holes in the lifeboat, it's kinda our duty to protect ourselves and throw you off the lifeboat! #cdnpoli

the short-sightedness here is insane. and not just in terms of fucking up the climate and all the economic and social repercussions downstream of that, but even the near-term economics of fossil fuel pipelines make no fucking sense at all. can we stop being dumb? www.cbc.ca/news/climate... #cdnpoli

i wonder how many people would still be so willing to shrug off the existence of billionaires if we didn't have words like million or billion to sorta obscure our perception of the actual number values and instead just added “thousand” onto every three more zeros added to the end of the number.

it's too bad our governments are filled with old people who are hypnotized by the lyle lanley style grifters in the ai industry because we could have regulations that fine companies who own ai models every time their model produces a shit incorrect response that produces a real world consequence.

drivers in the city whining about traffic all honk honk honk wah wah wah and its like shut the fuck up sell your car and take public transit like a sensible person living in the city you're crying about a problem you're contributing to asshole #toronto

technically, oil and gas are weapons of mass destruction. • majority cause of climate change. • major cause of cost of living increases and energy cost volatility. • the great human and economic toll of endless war. it is a massively destructive weapon pointed at not just humanity but all of life.

i saw a sticker on a vehicle today that said “je maple syrup” and in a span of 1.5 seconds i went from wait that's not right to oh i get it how canadianly wholesome.

i know its all subjective and my opinion on this doesn't and shouldn't matter but i have to ask: white guys, what's with the moustaches? why is this back? why y'all wanna look like undercover cops? or divorced alcoholic dads from the 80s? is this part of some cultural regression due to fascism or…?

2.8° is still catastrophic btw. so is 1°. but yes, this is good news. it shows that climate action and emissions regulations really do work despite all the economic and political barriers and stubborn adult toddlers in denial.

oh yeah, in terms of good news- I haven't seen anyone talking about this??? In short- worst case scenario of 4C warming by 2100 is no longer possible, new worst-case is 2.8C now DOES NOT MEAN we just relax- the only way we got here is through hard work- but it means THE HARD WORK IS WORKING

capitalism was never meant to be a way of doing things longterm. it wasn't even a designed system with a longterm plan. it was a temporary plan to make some cunts rich that expanded over time into an unsustainable global economic system that needs to be tweaked constantly to keep it from collapsing.

people who run collections agencies are some scum of the earth. imagine buying debt from banks and shit and then chasing after poor people like some kind of greedy reverse robin hood. real villain shit. their very existence proves humans are not evolved enough to meet extraterrestrials yet.

people censoring swear words online feels like a massive regression. people are censoring words that aren't even swears like kill, suicide, genocide, israel, trump, epstein, etc and its like fuck off you dumb cunts just type the god damn word. what are you afraid of? un-monetizable content? eat me.

please stop giving in to the mechanical whims of faceless corporations and their regressive self-serving algorithms. i feel like i'm repeating myself because of course i always am with everything i say because we're all just screaming while a much wealthier and therefore louder voice talks over us.

imagine saying during the aids pandemic: “you can't fight this. this disease is here to stay so you better get used to it. you better find a way to use this horrible disease or you'll be left behind.” — that's what these pro-ai people sound like to me.
