Fyi It's telling when a team has to use trick plays to stay competitive in sportsball games. It's an attempt to cover a blatant skill deficit and while it may be cute and work once or twice, it's not sustainable.

Hot take: One aim of data centers is ultimately to change and control public perception by creating an alternate reality with bot farms and AI. Obviously there are many more ugly things planned but data centers are and will always be a net negative for society while oligarchs own and run them.

Zelensky on bombing the Russian data centers: “It’s pretty clear where the bots were coming from.”

If none of the 57 men on a group chat that were invited to participate in a gang rape took any action to stop it, should any of us be surprised that Jeffrey Epstein’s best bud is the President of the United States and people STILL full-throated support him?

Amplify for accountability and abolish frats. Fraternities don't benefit anyone but their own boy's club.

The rape allegations that have emerged from a Cornell University frat house are leading many women to remember their own experiences — and call for a wider reckoning over sexual violence. n.pr/47x3Qsz

The Pentagon is notifying millions of current and former U.S. military servicemembers and staff that hackers stole their *unencrypted* personal information during a months-long data breach. The agency that had the breach also handles ID and login/credential access to U.S. military systems and bases.

Trevor Lee, a Republican representative from Layton and one of the most controversial figures in the Utah Legislature, has resigned after being charged with fraud.

Take as old as time. The Mormon church has always been attempting to not seem behind the times. There are double standards everywhere, and for the most part targeted at women. Also, a reminder that Monson is a doofus or gaslighting.

Let's not pretend that Catholicism or any patriarchal religion is some blessing to the world by focusing on positives and ignoring all the harm, raping, pillaging, violence, and killing they are responsible for throughout history. Only cherry picking "good aspects" doesn't make it good.

and, for many of them--away from their own country. This large repatriation drive was initiated in response to the Great Depression. White Americans blamed their economic shortcomings on Black & Brown people. Does that sound familiar? That's because it's happening today. (cont)

I'm not a conspiracy type. Though tpusa refused advice from UVU to move the event to a more safe space and got their own security preferences met. It really makes me think about who is responsible for the death of a scheduled event speaker. 🤔

I don’t know why it took me so long to see the parallel between the Tech Bros’ “network state” strategy (“parallel institutions”) & the “7 mountains mandate.” But now that I see it, I can’t unsee it. 1/

3/ “Introducing the parallel establishment. Imagine 1,000 startups, each replacing a different legacy institution. They exist alongside the legacy in parallel, gaining in strength, till eventually they pull away all the users. This is the parallel establishment.” - Balaji

Road use fees should be based on the main factors contributing to wear: 1) vehicle weight and 2) mileage. This approach is fuel agnostic. I can't wait until they devise a way to charge bicycle commuters a road use fee, you know the utleg wants to. 🫠

In an eyebrow raising move, the Utah Taxpayers Association is promoting NYC's "congestion pricing" as something we ought to consider. One powerful lawmaker opposes that but has his own idea that's just as interesting: www.fox13now.com/news/politic... #utpol #Utah

This courage— from the woman who witnessed and filmed Alex Pretti’s murder—is like nothing I’ve ever seen OMG 😭 Thank you to Senator Blumenthal and Rep. Garcia for giving Stella an opportunity to finally tell her story.

Heads up folks. There are accounts on bluesky defending Republican fascists, openly purporting that Republicans staying in power will be better than Dems. They are the same as the troll farms on the former Twitter. If you oppose them, they harass and threaten you. Don't engage. Report and block.

Utah gov declares Sept 10, 2026 as honor a stochastic terrorist day. Surprised he took time out of his busy book tour for this but not something that actually matters like defend his Lt gov in DOJ baseless lawsuit over voter data.

Utah Republicans are so afraid of catching "the gay" from rainbows. Imagine being so frail and insecure.

In the 16 months since Utah banned pride flags and a host of others, the state auditor has investigated at least 16 complaints about displays of prohibited flags. Here's what they were.

Who was that Sarah person on Money Power Politics with @stephruhle.bsky.social ? I didn’t agree with her AT ALL. Dems DO talk ‘kitchen table’ issues. Republicans start culture wars and are better at convincing people to care more about fake issues while doing better financially under Democrats.

“This slapdash effort is guaranteed to result in significant problems just weeks before the election, potentially disenfranchising thousands of voters.” The goal is to disenfranchise millions* of voters, not thousands.

Lots of 💰💰💰 to be made in this space. I'm optimistic but can't fight off the suspicion that it will turn into a money grab for grifters and a critical resource chokehold for authoritarian figures. Madmax-esk visions
