I just watched an amazing film. It started with me wanting to see Agnes Moorehead in something besides Bewitched. I found this from 1964, the same year she debuted on Bewitched. However, it also featured 3 star actresses whom I had not seen before: Bette Davis, Olivia de Havilland and Mary Astor.

Recently I ordered an OOP dvd set from Canada on EBAY. EBAY advised me it may incur tariff or import fees. The entire order with item + shipping + taxes came to about $35 US. A week or less after delivery I got a letter from UPS demanding payment of $10 US for tariff/import fees! POS TRUMP...!

Me: Male. White. 62. Probably not the demographic for this film. I have not yet seen it. I have waited since the day it was announced. I do not understand all the negativity directed at this film. I have no expectation for it except that it will be about Supergirl. I will buy it on disc DAY ONE.

Today the city of NY celebrates the NBA champion Knicks, who won after a 53 year span. But I still remember the first time it happened, when the NY Rangers won after a 54 year span. Still the best!

Personal opinion: I like this BLUE SKY app and the environment here but the one thing I DON'T LIKE is the text limitation. Sometimes we simply have a lot to say and these short posts are like the written equivalent of a sound bite. I had more to say about this but y'know --text limitation end. 🧱

bsky.app/profile/chri... I don't often repost things but I stand with my fellow cartoonists. Je suis Charlie.

Recently someone posted a question about any films you've seen recently which made you laugh or cry. Most responded with Project Hail Mary. Someone said "It's such a beautiful day" by Don Hertzfeldt. I hadn't seen his stuff since REJECTED. Bought it today on blu ray. www.bitterfilms.com

1/9 Here is my (possibly unpopular) opinion about the DC universe. The DC universe DIED in 1986. The single worst idea in the history of comics was CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS. I know, right? Hear me out.

2/9 I believe I read something from the writer where he stated that his motivation for this event series was a belief that (pre-crisis) DC was basically chaotic, confusing and challenging for potential new readers. Having a multiverse, with multiple versions of the same characters was a bad idea.

3/9 So he proposed a streamlining event to eliminate this and leave just one earth with one set of characters to publish. What he apparently failed to appreciate was that the thing he despised was THE VERY THING THAT MADE DC UNIQUE IN THE WORLD OF COMICS.

4/9 Am I wrong? Let's see what happened afterward. It is 40 years later and DC has cancelled and rebooted their characters countless times since then. That is a sign of failure to connect with an audience. Their current absolute line will ultimately run out of steam and they will fail again.

5/9 Meanwhile, the concept of a MULTI VERSE has been taken up by everyone else to great effect. MARVEL uses a multiverse now and also has a Spider-verse. Tv shows like FRINGE used it well and in film, EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE showed us how it's done!

6/9 DC killed SUPERGIRL and the BARRY ALLEN FLASH in the original crisis -- but who did DC bring to TV? SUPERGIRL and THE BARRY ALLEN FLASH. Who got their own film more recently? The BARRY ALLEN FLASH and this year it will be SUPERGIRL!

7/9 For 40 years DC has been trying to UNDO the damage from the biggest blunder in the history of comics.

8/9 addendum I forgot to mention that in the years since the original crisis, DC has had at least 2 additional "crisis" event titles to course correct or do damage control. And during the DC Crisis crossover event in the CW TV series, guess who DID NOT DIE? SUPERGIRL and the BARRY ALLEN FLASH.

9/9 further addendum Full disclosure: I bought the original crisis series as it was published in 1985-1986. It was well written and illustrated and I own a collected GN of the series even today. I am a SUPERGIRL fan and I own almost all her stories from the original DC universe. I am still mad.

Had she not died unexpectedly in an airplane crash, PATSY CLINE would be 93 years old. Though she would have undoubtedly retired by now, what incredible songs did we miss out on? The voice of a generation 🔥

All of these characters are exactly the same age! Introduced in comics published in December 1941. Archie Andrews PEP #22 The Penguin in DETECTIVE #58 Wonder Woman in ALL STAR #8 Sadly, the USA was also introduced to WWII with the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941.

Me everyday now when I see what's going on in the world. War, violence of all kinds, death, cruelty and stupidity beyond belief.

Looks like I'll be watching Edmonton in the playoffs AGAIN as my beloved Red Wings continue their annual spring collapse and miss the playoffs AGAIN.
