What is it with Republicans boasting that they don't know anything about other countries as if that's a flex? 'We're unqualified, and that's why you should trust us!'

JD Vance says of the Middle East that it's "a region of the world made up of countries whose name I couldn't even pronounce"

'And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.'

He _did_ vote for an adjudicated rapist. He just doesn't want to face up to the moral responsibility that goes with doing what he did. He wants to be respected despite acting disgracefully. (An attitude one would expect of both a rapist and someone who voted for a rapist.)

_Mayday_ (2026): a US pilot ejects over the USSR in 1987 and his only chance to get out is with the help of a KGB agent who wants asylum in America. Story is so-so, Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh make a good pair. Flunks the Bechdel Test.

Things I think about: in #Hamilton, when Alexander Hamilton talks about a 'financial diuretic', is that a word he or anyone else present would likely have understood the way we do? The word apparently dates from the 1400s, but medical research into the topic is from the 20th century.

Three logicians walk into a bar. The bartender asks, 'Do you all want a beer?' The first logician says, 'I don't know.' The second logician says, 'I don't know.' The third logician says, 'Yes.'

'The researcher, a 28-year-old female laboratory technician at the Irkutsk Research Anti-Plague Institute of Siberia, in the town of Shelekhov, died after being diagnosed with a pneumonia of “unknown” origin, according to Rospotrebnadzor, the Russian agency that handles infectious disease.'

In case anyone's wondering, the phone number for the president of Cornell University is 607-255-5201, and his email address is president@cornell.edu. In case, you know, you wanted to express an opinion on how the University is handling things.

I think this luck score is overstating it a bit. I spent 30 seconds thinking of word #2. #Wordle 1,924 3/6* 🟨⬜⬜🟨🟨 🟨🟨⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 WordleBot Skill 93/99 Luck 86/99

I hope everyone had a happy Unification Day! I put on my favorite #browncoat, when to an Alliance-friendly bar, and met some people who weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling. Now I'm basking in the #serenity.

I can't decide which is worse: (1) he thinks this is a genius insight only he was smart enough to see, (2) he thinks Ukraine is unreasonable for not letting an invader just take whatever they want, or (3) he has no clue the damage he did to our alliances with Taiwan/Japan/other countries near China.

The thing I don't understand is why people think it's safe to let the government hate anyone. Do they really think the hate will never get around to them? Didn't they ever read that poem? The letter from Birmingham Jail? Watch _Star Trek_? How many times does the same lesson have to be taught?

'What does his lucid explanation amount to but this, that in theory there is no difference between theory and practice, while in practice there is?' - Benjamin Brewster, 1882
