I play games, I develop web apps and am currently working on a game of my own. Developer of VOID PROFIT @corvidfood.com https://store.steampowered.com/app/4687990/VOID_PROFIT/ He/Him

The most telling thing is that these people think that you spend 200 thousand dollars on "outsourcing" and then just "break even." My man(s), most of us work alone at night and 90% of us will make less than $10,000 in the entirety of our game development career.

I can't believe he's still at it, it's been days

I actually think that console makers could benefit from pulling a bootleg console move. You buy the PS6? 300 PS1 games are already on that bitch. The new Nintendo console? Every NES and SNES game is on there. You need to do what? Solder a 32GB SD card somewhere?

You can even make it a money-making thing. You choose a pack. You want "action-adventure" games? Here's the Crash and Spyro SD card for $50. You want sports? Here's some old FIFA and NHL games. Gives you stuff to play before we release a game in 5 years.

Just so you know. I have all the code and the full project for this game. This was from the time I was scrambling for a company name. It IS coming eventually. My skateboarding MAGNUM OPUS. #gamedev #indiedev

As I need to post something on here to get things rolling, here are some early screenshots of the game I'm working on called "The Skate Club" #indiedev #solodev #gamedev

2,200+ wishlists for VOID PROFIT! I honestly expected about a 10th of that. Thank you for wishlisting, playing the demo and noticing my weird little space game. It means a lot. Aetrocor is very pleased to have this many potential debtors. #indiegame #spacegame #gamedev #nextfest #indiedev #spacesim

So many news about a Battlefield™ movie. But... what would that be? A war movie. You can make a movie about WAR and call it Battlefield. They don't have a trademark on the word. Why is Michael B. Jordan working with EA on this?

The good thing about getting into video game collecting but focusing on old PC games is that most of them cost, like, 5 bucks and the hardware you need for them is around 50.

I'm so tired of Reddit #indiedev circles. It's all maximizing marketing, counting wishlists, bringing the most of your TikTok views. I want like 10 people to say "I really loved that game." That's all.

Fly a rented corporate vessel in a procedurally-generated universe, navigate risky routes, profit from changing markets before the opportunity disappears and you lose it all. Take jobs, navigate the markets, smuggle, lie. #TrailerTuesday #spacesim #indiegame Here's the new trailer for VOID PROFIT:

Hard at work on the next VOID PROFIT update. Mostly gameplay balancing and systems improvements. However, needed to get to some visual updates for my own sanity. Here's a little before and after of the cockpit view. Made it deeper, more oppressive and added more details. #spacesim #indiedev #gamedev

I have over 3000 games. But I will not buy a Ubisoft game, I will not buy a Blizzard game. Right now I cannot buy a Microsoft game. And I was banking on indies but a lot of them have the AI disclosure. I can't play new games. Bought Capitalism Lab recently. Didn't realize that it's a lot of AI now.

Capitalism Lab WAS the FINAL economic simulation game. The genre that I love. But I can't trust them now. They also have voices. It's all AI. Lost $35 on a game I can't play or trust. (They also don't have the "3" where you can watch people go into your store but that is not AI related).

Still, to this day, people do not *actually* see games as art. There is no appreciation for the unreal, the theatrical, the smoke and mirrors. To most people who play games but are not *into* games, they are a linear art form. New is better because it's *more*.

Had to eat dinosaur chicken nuggets for lunch. Was going really fast through the store yesterday, saw them, thought they were cute and bought them for my kid. Today I saw them in the freezer and thought "There's no way I'm making this absolute shit for my kid." They were awful, actually. Hardly food

Being in web dev sucks now. There was this really nice event called Beer.js near me. It's draft beers, web dev talks and a generally cool way to interact with people. They've changed it now. All the talks are about AI and they're advertising is with sending your AI agents to it instead.

Why have sports game player career modes become such power fantasies? Why is my created player averaging 12 ppg in his rookie NHL season? Why did my NBA 2K player score 48 points in his first NBA game? What's up with that? Who finds this fun? It's nothing like the actual sport you supposedly like.

And it's not because of me. Been emulating NHL 13 and you can have a cold streak there, scoring a goal is a big deal as it should be. Almost got sent to the minors. I get destroyed in every multiplayer match in NBA 2K. It's not that I'm good at them.

Still have no idea how I beat Max Payne 2 when I was 13. Had a weekend of only turning on my internet-disconnected Windows XP PC and that game fucking destroyed me. Must be because I didn't really understand the story so I wasn't fully depressed and bothered when I got into a level.

I think I got added to a bot list on Twitter somewhere. Suddenly got a bunch of followers with new accounts, most of which are "Blockchain engineers" or (surprised they still exist) NFT peddlers.

Had to disable my X account because of this. I can't market an indie game while being followed by BasedCryptoMAGA_6535, the_nft_guy12, etc. Bet it's because my game has the word PROFIT in its title.

Trying to find normal Bulgarian dubs of the Spider-Man movies for my kid. It got me thinking about No Way Home. The premise makes sense for Spider-Man but it makes no fucking sense for the MCU. Every character in that universe has their face out, identity completely exposed. They kill people.

But, in this movie, Spider-Man is denied all access to what he wants because he killed a guy and they now know who he is? Sure, that's a Spider-Man thing but they destroyed full cities in previous movies. They kill henchmen left and right. No secret identity. Makes no sense in their universe.

Walkable cities are so important for public health. I've lost 6kg in two weeks. Got fat really fast (my body tends to go through these fast changes). Been eating better and walking a lot in the last two weeks. I'm talking weird levels like 30000 steps per day. No gym, just walking everywhere.

And because it's a walkable city it wasn't a boring walk in a park. Just in the last few days I've walked to a boardgame store to buy miniature paints. I've walked to a LEGO store to get minis for my kid. I've walked to several different grocery stores. I've walked to a bar to meet up with friends.

The "Hydration Break" thing in the World Cup is so uniquely American. Nevermind that Americans are for some reason OBSESSED with "hydration" but they also figured out a way to put timeouts in a game with no timeouts because god forbid you watch something for 45 minutes with no big ad breaks.

About that old incremental game I pulled from my SSD - progression is nonsensical, visuals fight each other constantly. Did rile that up a bit and made an actual Start Screen for it. Will release it as is on Itch next week. Here's the start screen I cobbled together, by the way. #gamedev #indiedev

TikTok is absolute bullshit. Uploaded the VOID PROFIT trailer on there (0 views). They flash a message at me saying "Give us €1.89 for a promotion and you can get 2500 views." Of course, I do that, it's 2 bucks. Turns out that I can't promote THAT video but they gave me my money back in "credits."

Tried to dispute their vague "Rejected" status. It's the trailer for my game, there's nothing bad in there. All they said is basically "Nah. We don't like it." They're still flashing that message at me.

By the way, I looked through the code, built the game again. It's less of an incremental game and more like a really silly version of Doodle God. Which might be right, I don't know.

Deyan Garvanski@dgarvanski.bsky.social

By the way, seeing how popular incremental games are kind of makes me wish that I actually focused on that one. But I just...don't find them fun or engaging. Couldn't battle myself for that.
