This warmed an old designer’s heart. I still love a good, classic font.

I am the very model of a modern day typographer A font take on the tune “Modern Major General” by Gilbert & Sullivan #typography #fonts #graphicdesign

This is the danger that the rest of us ignore at our peril. Oppose the Right and spend life in prison.

Judge O’Connor stated from the bench that he is giving maximum sentences to the Prairieland sentences because “the state wants to send a message to anyone who shares a similar ideology.”

Reflecting on today’s gospel lesson - we must name what we have seen and cannot unsee. Their families are devastated, their supporters are angry, and I am enraged at an unjust decision.

Pray for them. I visited with several families of the Prairieland 9 today.

I pray today for the 85 school children killed this morning and the children throughout the Middle East who again are the victims of a war they did not choose.

I stood on this spot a year ago and vowed to faithfully care for this community of faith in an increasingly inhospitable culture. I’m grateful for everyone who have made similar vows this past year.

It’s these kinds of choices that led me to retire from TCU in 2020.

“There’s a particular kind of despair that comes from watching an institution abandon its principles in real time…What’s the political cost of supporting our own people versus the cost of quietly surrendering?” Powerful words from a TCU colleague. www.texasobserver.org/tcu-eliminat...

Callousness indeed. Shame on those who voted for this bill. “When did we see you…?” will be a reality one day for these members of Congress.

Clint Smith@clintsmithiii.bsky.social

But for the arbitrary nature of birth and circumstance, any of us could be living in poverty, dependent upon assistance to put food on the table, to take our children to the doctor, and to pull ourselves out of debt. The lack of empathy, the pure callousness on display in this bill, is infuriating.

He released this on Juneteenth, a federal holiday. A holiday marking the end of chattel slavery. A holiday important to our African American siblings. In other words, this is racist.

Having served on the Child Care Associates board for almost 15 years and chaired it for three years I am appalled by the callous behavior of the Trump administration regarding funding early childhood education and Head Start abandoning opportunities for an entire generation of children and families.

And this is why “Are we on Booker’s team now?” is the wrong question. He’s saying he wants to join OUR team.

Cup of Libertea@liberalhegemon.bsky.social

Quite moving hearing Booker just now saying why he started this and referring to his constituents asking him to do more, do things differently, to take risks, and then referencing John Lewis. Sounds like he took the advocacy to heart.

Wow. Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde fearlessly calls out Trump and Vance to their faces. This is heroic. (posting in 3 parts due to Bluesky's 1 minute limit)

4 years ago the anti racism council I co-chaired at Broadway issued the attached statement. Today the chief insurrectionist is pardoning the insurrectionists who invaded the capital. The moral arc of the universe is longer than I’d hoped though I still believe we can bend it toward justice.

I was honored to serve communion this morning with my friends and predecessors, Carol Ann West and Jorene Taylor Swift at Celebration Community Church’s 32nd anniversary service.

Trust is not a magic spell that we can cast when things go sideways in life. Rather, trust is a choice that we make, based on God’s good creation, that allows us to live in community with each other as we seek the “peace of the city” in which God has planted us.

As our congregation considers the way forward after the election we realize we need to care for each other, care for our LGBTQIA community, and care for other communities living on the margin.

You are up to date.
