I have been a lawyer, a novelist, a playwright, a poet, a comedian, and some of those things I still am, sort-of. Half Aussie. Half Newfie. All Canadian. Pretty far left. Have 2 grown sons. One husband. One dog. Part of a horse. Also: old (over 65).

Time for Obama to double down on the Cheesecake Factory shtick. "Cheesecake factory, nyah nyah nyah, Cheesecake factory, nyah nyah apoopoo!" oughta be about Trump's level.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

From a reliable friend in buffalo, new york. I'm in toronto. " ...early voting ballots are having to be scanned three to five times before machine will accept...a poll worker wanted to put them in an "emergency box". So, mark them carefully and keep trying and trying until they scan."

I’ve finally found a Canadian made dishwasher detergent, so I decided to share. Biodegradable, no animal testing. Perfect way to support our economy and job market #BuyCanadian #Canada 🇨🇦

I understand that the Albertan separatists got nicknamed "seppos." "Seppo" is Australian Rhyming Slang for American, ie., "septic tank/Yank." This half-Australian Canadian feels so good about that...

Headline: 76% of Albertans Vote To Stay In Canada. Alternate Headline... Artificial Amplification of a Tiny Number of Albertans Calling For Separation From Canada Resulted In Months of Unnecessary Stress For Canadians and Wasted Millions of Dollars. (Quoting my friend Sue.)

share widely, Canadians. Bots and fake accounts pretending to be Albertans and promoting separation. Working to destroy Canada (because SOME Albertans are stupid AF apparently...)

And the police are laying no charges against them...why? Because they're all Trump supporters? Hopefully this woman will lawyer up & go after every penny this lowlife and his friend and his friend's son and the venue and the so-called security have? Sue Trump too. For shits and giggles.

Yep, you can do anything, when you're the (criminal) President of the USA. Nobody can stop you. Or at least, nobody will...

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

Indeed, Trump himself has 34 felony convictions and was facing a further 92 felony charges... but nothing is going to happen to him, because SCOTUS threw a blanket of immunity over him. I think this is what he means.

I'm one of those Karens who comments when the person beside her in the produce aisle reaches for the American berries. "Those are American, you know...you really wanna buy from the fascist regime?" It's amazing what you can say when you're a borderline little-old-lady...

The news from the States that it's broadcasting an execution just leaves me reeling. Setting aside whether capital punishment should be allowed, surely we are above slathering crowds watching hangings and guillotinings? What have we become, that anyone would watch a publicly-sanctioned snuff film?

From my son, a Toronto refugee lawyer: a former client arrived with thank-you card&flowers. Her daughters are now in university instead of being deported to a country where they had no safety and no rights. Canadian refugee protection law was gutted by Bill C12, but the lawyers fight on.

Canada is not even talking to you. You dumb f***. We are all too busy making sure we have as little to do as possible with your shithole country.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump talks about Canada just like he talks about Iran: "Canada has been very difficult to deal with. Canada would like to make a deal, but we're not satisfied."

Doug Ford’s next billion dollar scandal. Seven private career colleges received $385 million in OSAP grants in 2024-25, amid serious questions about suspicious activity and government oversight. I have asked the Auditor General to investigate. It’s time to fix OSAP ASAP. #onpoli

Insulin was discovered in Toronto in 1921. Before that, people died. These parents should be jailed. In Canada, the crime is called "failure to provide the necessities of life." There's also "criminal negligence causing death." It doesn't matter who your imaginary friend is. LOOK AFTER YOUR KIDS.

Wait times increasing, as Ontario government privatizes surgeries and imaging! Alberta's doing the same. The Fed are doing nothing to enforce the Canada Health Act.

California company accused of shipping pesticide laden berries to Canada. We can't trust American product we should be able to trust that our government has adequate numbers of inspectors in place to protect us. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

My mother survived measles as a little girl in 1930. She was deathly ill for a month. Others in the district died. She died last year at age 100. Right up until she died, she still got her "shots." As did her children.

It looks warm, but it's actually about 15 degrees Celsius here on our little lake in ontario. It's several weeks early to be closing up but we're choosing to do it now, because this is a bit cold even for canadians. In september. The dog is disappointed.
