It was never going to happen for you this year after this Atlanta

Trump does the Tomahawk Chop next to Atlanta Braves executive Mike Plant, center, and Brian Snitker, retired manager of the Atlanta Braves, right, during a rally at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Ga., Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

We all want politics to be West Wing but it is only ever Veep

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

🤡 Schmitt beclowns himself 🤡 Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atl for a Hawks game and to collude with Fani Willis, & flashed his "evidence" before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- his facts were totally wrong. Here's the whole sequence:

IDK @froomkin.bsky.social i kind of like Caldwell's debut column about how the flood described in Genesis 6:9-11 was just a light drizzle

The Times and particularly its Opinion section love nothing more than trolling their readers. This is total, deceptive clickbait. I don't think even this rightwing loon, Christopher "That Hegseth Speech Was Actually Pretty Good" Caldwell, is making that argument. (Couldn't stomach reading it all.)

Feels like an appropriate day to repost this

noahseligman.substack.com/p/donald-tru... Again, and I cannot stress this enough, this is just covering actions directly related to September 11, 2001. NOT a recitation of his entire canon of felony, fraud, and falsehood that epitomize his entire mistake of a life.

What a relief to the 18 members of the military KIA and the hundreds wounded that it wasn't in a war. Great job JD!

Thanks for running this one @mcsweeneys.net Dedicated to everyone who "isn't political" as flimsy thin code for: I shouldn't be judged for liking DJT and Republicans Yeah, yeah you should.

Republicans' largest donor (by far) is hosting a robust debate on his platform about whether Jews are white. Corporate Media will ask precisely 0 Republicans about their largest donor's all-consuming misogyny, xenophobia, antisemitism, he will instead by referred to as a visionary industrialist.

It does raise an interesting question: How much AI would be required to make Van Orden not seem like a jerk in every interaction he has with every person he's ever met?

Sounds like a DEI hire

Republicans Against Trumpism@rpsagainsttrump.bsky.social

Trump is considering MAGA commentator Scott Jennings to replace Karoline Leavitt as White House press secretary, but he’s reportedly not sold on the idea. Ari Fleischer, who served as George W. Bush’s press secretary, is also being floated for the job www.notus.org/trump-white-...

Nah, can't WI taxpayers do that thing where you pocket $3B in subsidies to never build a $10B plant while not creating anywhere close to the 13K promised job?

Jeff Sharlet@jeffsharlet.bsky.social

WaPo making same claim that’s been disproven again & again. Who do they imagine these people are, willing to pay the price of abandoning home, friends, lives they’ve built. “Sorry, kids, we’re leaving the only home you’ve ever known & all our friends to pay 7% state tax instead of 8%.”

The Lindbergh renaming is similar to my view of the 2028 Republican presidential primary. Just, just, not a literal nazi this time. Thanks.

IDK. Bob Gibson and a whole lot of other P in 1968 might have been onto something

Have they tried injecting bleach????!?!

Looks like the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool’s peeling is not what Trump made it seem. A new investigation reveals it’s a bad paint job, not a crime scene — and ‘American flag blue’ is already going gray.

I bet its all the ones about helping the poor, the sick, and the foreigner since that is like 90% of the Bible's message

I'm just coming up with this now but Wood vastly underestimated the impact of social distinctions predicated upon wealth, especially inherited wealth

President Bone Spurs is our first FIFA President sure. The lawlessness, the corruption, the fraud, disrespect for women and workers. He is a FIFA guy for sure. But soccer? GTFO. please be serious @mlsist.bsky.social

Pablo Maurer@mlsist.bsky.social

Donald Trump is often called America's first "soccer president." I wondered: what role did the game play in his upbringing? I talked to Trump's high school teammates about his brief moments on the pitch - and the brutal military school that formed him. www.theguardian.com/football/202...

If I didn't want Americans to label me a "poltical actor" I simply would stop exclusively doing overtly political actions to help the Republican Party subvert elections

NEW: Chief Justice John Roberts bemoans that Americans don't understand how the Supreme Court operates and see justices as "political actors". The court at times simply has to make "unpopular" decisions, he adds: www.nbcnews.com/politics/sup...

Thanks for running this one @mcsweeneys.net In fairness, also inspired in part by how much $ my parents wasted on swimming lessons for me growing up and my wicked witch like properties in water. Much like POTUS polling numbers, deeply underwater

A chicken in every pot

maura quint@mauraquint.bsky.social

Yeah the rotisserie chicken amendment is neat! Unfortunately it was attached to the Farm Bill which locked in $187 billion in cuts to SNAP. So, yes, now SNAP can be used for rotisserie chickens but more importantly, this bill means red tape, cuts & tons of people losing access to food completely.
