#ArtAdventCalendar Day 12
“Bay Waves”, an 18”x24” oil painting of a bright, open seascape. A large wave crashes onto the shore, as cliffs and clouds sit in the background.
My day 12 #ArtAdventCalendar
Is actually a thread on how I saved and restored a 125ish year old violin destined for the trash.

About 10 years ago, Kim & I bought an old violin for $150 in a liquor store in Eatonville, WA. It was in terrible shape. 2 large cracks that had been "repaired" with wood glue (which failed) and the top plate had come right off.

I'm old.
If you're not, listen to this.
Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.
Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.
It's literally never been more important.
PAX Unplugged was such a wonderful time this year. Stacks of liteRPGs that inspire creativity. Panels on worldbuilding culture, religions, morality, villains, building monsters and ecology around them. Meeting interesting people, and fantastic vibes.🥰
Will I be at PAX Unplugged 2026? Absolutely!
The last panel I went to at #PAXU was about world building for avoiding narrative railroading. It was a super interesting discussion and really inspired me to start getting back to writing for my world. No matter how much I want to run some #TTRPG sessions or write stories I can't if I don't write.
Start of my newest alphabet calligraphy development. Where I am now to start messing about.

Remember, Tolkien didn't start working on "The Hobbit" until he was 41 years old. It started as tales for his children that took over 4 years to complete, and he finally published it at the age of 45.
It is never too late to start working on something that truly calls to you.
Embrace your passion.
I have returned from the camping! Tents, campfires, nature sounds, bathing in the river, eating good food, keeping good company, scribbling in a journal, and disconnecting from this ridiculous world to do bear things. A much needed reset to the brainsmeats.
