Lesson: don’t settle with these defendants.

Most state attorneys general released Meta from Cambridge Analytica-related claims as part of the child safety settlement. New Mexico wasn't part of that deal, and a jury there found 26 of 29 past statements about Cambridge Analytica, hate speech and misinformation willfully deceptive.

I was happy to contribute a short endorsement to Isabella Webber's new book. Look forward to the panel discussion we will hold in the Spring at Harvard with Isabella and Daron Acemoglu provocatively titled "Can Economics Save Democracy?"

Moving. Thanks for sharing. Just to add to this: at a meeting in Berlin on Money last Saturday, I was asked who was most influential for your own thinking about money - without missing a beat I said Perry Mehrling. I had no idea that he was in coma as I was talking about him and his work.

Soziopolis@soziopolis.bsky.social

Now on LPE blog - the core ideas of the book. Stay tuned for the comments followed by a replique

LPE Blog@lpeblog.bsky.social

Today, @katharinapistor.bsky.social explains how three features of our private law—private legal empowerment, decentralized access to the centralized means of coercion, and legal arbitrage—allow capitalists to circumvent public regulation.

My response to Yochai Benkler‘s take on transforming capitalism. Sadly, we cannot count on the state

LPE Blog@lpeblog.bsky.social

Today, @katharinapistor.bsky.social argues that any program of transformative change must reckon with the fact that capitalists have largely succeeded in de-legitimizing existing institutions, including the state itself.

Couldnt be more timely! In @jeppjournal.bsky.social (open access), a detailed post mortem of the 2022 inflation shock, and suggestions how to do better this time.

Isabella M. Weber@isabellamweber.bsky.social

Just in time for the latest oil price spike, we published our article urging the ECB not to hike rates to fight a supply shock. Europe needs a new inflation governance for shockflation. We need disaster preparedness for essentials instead of increasing investment costs.

Danke - freue mich dass das Buch jetzt auch auf deutsch erscheint - mit Dank an Suhrkamp und Frank Lachmann, der es übersetzt hat

A new #book #economics “Das Gesetz des Kapitalismus und wie wir es überwinden” by @katharinapistor.bsky.social PS: Unfortunately, I failed to read it in English. But now I have no choice but to read the German edition - Oct 13, 2026 @suhrkamp.de www.suhrkamp.de/buch/kathari...

My latest on @projectsyndicate.bsky.social - based on a recent co-authored paper I suggest that liquidity is produced jointly by private and public actors, including public debt managers and central banks and that it is high time to treat them as external to the market

Project Syndicate@projectsyndicate.bsky.social

The mere possibility that new private debt might be crowding out US public debt is an ominous sign, because it suggests that the “full faith and credit” of the US government is waning, @katharinapistor.bsky.social warns. bit.ly/4xsRTQ9
