"Shove that ballroom up your fat ass!" Trump tonight is campaigning in Mississippi... because Republicans are worried about losing Mississippi.

Pickens and Wills became the Navy’s first Black women officers in 1944. Their qualifications preceded the Navy’s permission. Black organizing helped force the opening. Honor their achievement; remember who maintained the barrier and who fought it. #BlackHistory #WomensHistory

Charleston remains the ONLY North American city to run a uniform, stamped-metal badge system for urban slave labor. These copper badges reveal a larger truth: Charleston licensed, numbered, monitored, and taxed Black labor. Again I ask: Who knew?🤔 I didn't. #KeepItWoke #DedicatedToTam✡️🕊

Many of Charleston's roads, buildings, docks, and infrastructure were built or maintained by enslaved artisans and laborers. Their work shaped the city, yet their names were forgotten—omitted, or never known. The badge system remained in force until slavery ended in 1865. (cont)

badge—or wearing an outdated/forged one—the physical price was paid by the enslaved person. They were arrested on the spot, taken to the infamous Charleston Workhouse (below), and subjected to public whippings and imprisonment until fines were paid by the enslaver or slaves themselves. (cont)

the thing is they say this cause it "works" there are enough people that will believe that BS... AND if enough bots saying they believe the ones that WANT to believe will fall for it. sadly even though a LOT of the russian bots are gone but there are data centers here to hold MORE bots...

1/2 The Nazis weren't socialists who drifted right. Their movement was ultranationalist, racist, antisemitic and violently anti-Marxist. They destroyed independent unions and persecuted socialists and communists. Musk's argument substitutes a party label for its documented history.

Paul Marvin@paulmarvin.bsky.social

2/2 Calling Musk stupid leaves the institutional question untouched. Gil Durán's *The Nerd Reich* examines how tech wealth, control of information platforms and political influence intersect. When Nazi history is distorted by someone with that reach, the consequences extend beyond one false claim. 🦁

I often got in arguments with my teachers in NC because in MA it's taught it was about abolishing slavery. This is without mentioning their own part in perpetuating the horrid system. They really try to white wash what really was happening in New England.

Thank you for this history lesson. I grew up in MA and NC. How both states teach history is infuriating. In MA slavery is mostly taught as a Southern issue while oil paintings depicting black "house workers" hung in the school library. In NC, the civil war is taught as a fight for states rights.

Colonial advertisements documented people as merchandise: their ages, skills, origins, and supposed usefulness. They rarely preserved their own words. Historical investigation must recover African identities, knowledge, resistance, and lives beyond enslavers' commercial descriptions.

The historical record does not support a slavery-free colonial North. New England's economy, households, and institutions participated in enslavement. African people also challenged that system and helped shape the region's culture. Both histories belong in the American story. 🦁

Enslaved Africans did not simply submit to colonial authority. In 1777, Prince Hall and other Black petitioners challenged slavery in Massachusetts, invoking the principles of liberty proclaimed by the American Revolution. Black people were organizing for their own freedom.

Boston's slave market was not confined to an elite auction house. The National Park Service documents sales through businesses and ships, with enslaved people also held by artisans and other working households. Slaveholding was embedded in the city's ordinary economy.

On July 19, 1739, the Boston News-Letter advertised two enslaved Black girls and a boy brought from Montserrat. Their English and household skills were selling points. Their names were not recorded. The advertisement is reproduced in Donnan, vol. 3, p. 50.

Sarah Kendzior's *Cosa Nostradamus* reminds me why I've followed her work for so long. Reading her prose evokes memories of experiencing watercolors. Scholarship, grief, indignation, and irreverent humor flow together without losing their individual character. And “Midol Metal”? 😂 Brilliant..

"I am not Cassandra. I accept only one nickname: Cosa Nostradamus, because I see organized crime." sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/cosa-nostr...

What particularly resonated was Sarah's insistence that ordinary people don't deserve suffering because their governments are corrupt Equally important is her rejection of the Cassandra mythology. Her work reflects disciplined research, not prophecy Expertise deserves recognition, not mystification

Where I depart from Sarah is AI. The technology itself isn't inherently destructive. Human beings and institutions determine how it's developed, deployed, and exploited. Who controls the infrastructure, who profits, who bears the costs, and who is accountable? That's where my scrutiny begins. 🦁

Grolaw, your scattered replies are starting to resemble password spraying! 😂 But the thread connecting The Family, divine authority, legal definitions and Aristotle is power: who gets to define liberty, and for whom? Paine's America proclaimed freedom while enslaving Africans. That's my point. 🦁

Same racist playbook, different Black target! Trump peddled birtherism against Obama. He's recycling an unsubstantiated marriage allegation against Ilhan Omar. Smear their identity, question their legitimacy, demand they disprove the lie. White supremacy doesn't need evidence. It needs repetition. 🦂
