Why did Trump withdraw? 🤷‍♂️ He argued the deal was "unfair" to the U.S., claiming it hurt American jobs and industries while benefiting competitors like China and India. But experts say leaving the deal does more harm than good.

What happens now? 🕰️ The U.S. formally left in 2020, but rejoined under President Biden in 2021. This highlights the agreement’s fragility—it depends on leadership and commitment from every administration.

What do countries have to do? 🌱 Each nation sets its own goals, called Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), reviewed every 5 years. Richer nations also pledged $100B annually to help poorer countries transition to greener energy.

Did the U.S. have an important role? Absolutely. As the 2nd largest emitter of greenhouse gases, U.S. leadership is critical. The agreement relies on cooperation.

Why does it matter? 🔥 Without it, the planet faces rising sea levels, devastating weather events, and irreversible environmental damage. The agreement is humanity’s best shot at stopping the worst impacts of climate change.

In 2015, world leaders gathered in Paris for COP21. For the first time, countries agreed to: - Cut greenhouse gas emissions - Adapt to climate impacts - Provide financial aid to vulnerable nations.

What IS the Paris Climate Agreement? 🤔 It's a historic international treaty adopted in 2015 to combat climate change. Nearly 200 countries committed to limiting global warming to below 2°C (ideally 1.5°C) above pre-industrial levels.

„We suffer more in imagination than in reality“ I find this a very true thought… especially for myself, I tend to overthink a lot and worry about so many different outcomes, most of which never materialise… I need to remind myself of this more often!

When I learned Mendeleev dreamt the periodic table, I thought it was just luck. Now as a dev, I get it. When you’re deep into a problem for a long time, your brain keeps working on it—even in your sleep I’ve woken up with solutions I couldn’t see the day before so many times

Ever think about how fragile democracy really is? In much of Europe, it’s barely older than your grandparents. While not the same, here is a map showing the dates of abolition of monarchy in Europe. (Red is where it still exists) 👇🧵

We will still need developers in 5 years. You will still need to know and study basics of programming languages. You will still need to know advanced concepts. Programming will not be fully outsourced to AI within 5 years as everyone claims.

Spain: Under Franco’s dictatorship until 1975. Portugal: A dictatorship until the Carnation Revolution in 1974. Italy: Fascist under Mussolini until 1945. Greece: Dictatorship until 1974.

Democracy is shockingly young in much of Europe. For centuries, people lived under empires, dictatorships, or foreign occupation. It’s a fragile achievement—not something to take for granted.

For example in Austria: 👑 Habsburg Rule (~1282–1918): For centuries, emperors held absolute power. 👎 Post-WWI (1918–1938): Democracy struggled and fell to dictatorship. 👎 WWII & Occupation (1938–1955): No freedom under Nazi rule or Allied control.

Germany: Democracy began with the Weimar Republic (1919), but the Nazi regime (1933–1945) crushed it. The post-WWII democracy only exists since 1949.
