Nervous system reset after yesterday. It was a 19 hour day of band (and 21 hours for me). The kids made the state level. Arcade time.

Let’s have some fun This beat is sick I’m gonna take a walk With my cripple stick … probably should stop singing that around the office.

Tonight’s movie was The Craft. This one actually scared her. We might take a break. I’m not in a hurry for her to grow up too fast. :)

It’s another contest weekend for the kids! I’ve been up since 5:30 AM to get the house picked up and run errands before driving across town (which takes well over an hour because Houston is two hours from Houston). These are the best days of our lives.

At my daughter’s request, we’ve started adding horror movies to the rotation. We watched Oculus first. She loved it. And yesterday was The Skeleton Key. Loved that one too. We’re staying away from gore and jump scares. We want suspense and some supernatural elements.

The band took 6th place out of 25 bands at a local competition! My daughter got a taste of what it’s like to compete and she found why we all love it. I’m so proud of these kids! Literally two 18 hour days in a row.

I paid $24 to go to this show and I’m seated on the pavement because the only ADA seating is wheelchair parking and all other handicap seating is only accessible by stairs. Do better Clear Creek ISD!

As a mom, it’s so sweet when I get a little cut and my teen comes up to me while I’m washing it off to pat it dry and insists on applying a bandaid. It really didn’t need one, but that wasn’t the point. This, more than anything, gives me reassurance that I’ve done something right with my life.

Been competing in a company sponsored hackathon contest that’s co-located in India. Where were these guys when I was in college? We’re ALL in it to win it. I’m watching them revise our presentation and it’s a different style than what I would choose, but I like it- it’s fun being the only American.

Just QA Things: Developer: “Why are you doing that? It will fail!” Me: “I know. I want to make sure the error message is correct.” Dev: “Why are you doing it a second time?” Me: “To verify that it revalidates.” Dev: “No… But I just told you that will fail…” Me: “Yup! I gotta break it! Sorry!”

My daughter recommended Project Hail Mary for tonight’s movie. Absolutely excellent. We were talking about how we love the boyish scientists with messy brown hair and round glasses trope. She says, “He’s got my attention. He looks like he reads books and drinks coffee in his free time.”

After walking through the HEB parking lot, roasting, my car’s temperature display said it was 88 degrees outside. I promptly roared, “You are a LIARRRRR! It’s at least 450 outside!” I need fall to get here. I miss having chilly weather on my birthday.

Today’s matinee is The Others. My mother loved this movie. She would watch it all wrapped up in her chenille throw. She would shriek every time like it was her first watch,

Watching your kid experience the twist of The Sixth Sense for the first time is immensely satisfying. Enough time has passed that these babies are unspoiled and I love that.

Yesterday’s movie was The Watchmen (Ultimate Cut) and today’s is The Sixth Sense. I love that enough time has passed that her generation doesn’t already know the twist. This is going to be beautiful.

In a moment of weakness, I ate a BLT at a restaurant on Saturday. I’ve been sick as hell all day and I can’t help but wonder if I’m living that Oregon Trail lifestyle from the lettuce.

My biggest pet peeve at work is meetings that just blow through their scheduled window. Please send a hostage negotiator. It’s 30 minutes past our stop time and I’m hungry.

We have 41 days of oil left in the reserves and they are trying to feed us horse meat and rejected beef from Argentina. Good lord, I need a spicier bingo card if we make it to 2027. Even my craziest squares seem to qualify multiple times.

The majority of my go to foods are on recall (or should be). I’m really considering a small hydroponic system but it’s one more thing that I need to take care of and I’m already maxed out on spoons. :/

With all the food recalls, it might be simpler to just give us a list of what we CAN eat. It’s almost like we should have an org that inspects our food and drugs to make sure they are safe for consumption…

We lost a baddie today. My Victorian milk glass tray from 1899. And when I was trying to repair it, my hand slipped and I jammed the sharp end right into the underside of my wrist. So I’m very sad.

I have no willpower. I bought this immediately. Put on my dang shoes, drive down the street, purchased with my hard earned money. 1970s curio.
