I’ve been playing around with CoreText to try to replicate the lyrics highlighting in Apple Music.

... with some gradient fade at the end of the highlighting block

In Apple Music, this gradient fade is very smooth, while in my case I have this white line at the end of the fading block. I’m definitely missing something, but I didn’t expect this to be *this* annoying. I'm still inside CoreText territory though.

To a certain degree, you can achieve similar results using SwiftUI’s TextLayout/TextRenderer, but it won’t be as smooth as using CoreText.

Achieving this is the next step. I’m not sure how Apple does it, but I assume it’s something built with Metal. It looks like a subtle ripple effect combined with a glow, and a gradient fade.
