"Well, I didn't know I had a chance!" He made his way to the door, with a delusional surety to his step, "She'll come back.. She'll hear 'bout how *figured* out I am now." "Sure!" "Don't believe me?" "No no, I think you are very good being certain you always have the next 5 minutes figured out."

Lou leaned on the counter following her as she moved down the kitchen, "Listen, she's not innocent in this! Anything but, actually." "Believe me, I know." Alice rolled her eyes, "But Viv's gonna light her life on fire regardless. You need to find *anyone* else to occupy your self destruction with."

"Gonna stop you right there. Full brakes." He leaned back, "Viv is *not* my sweetheart either." "I don't believe you." She interjected simply. "She's not." "Well she's /something/." "I never said she wasn't something.. I said she's not my sweetheart." "Isn't she married?" "Sure, sort of."

"Y'know you're right. It is pretty convenient ain't it? How 'bout that." He shrugged, "Also why's everyone always talkin' about my business?" "Cause it's entertaining. So if she isn't your sweetheart, anymore.." Alice did her best to hide her smirk, "I guess that means what I heard about you and-"

"...Your girl hasn't wrote you back has she?" "Nope." Lou turned with a glance, "And for the whateverth time, Alice, she's not my girl." "Pretty sure, that's not what you were saying last time you stumbled over here for your after bar meatloaf." "Can't recall." He sipped. "Oh? Convenient."

And his cup of joe always came with a complimentary (and playful) harassment from his regular waitress, Alice Martin. He was enjoying the ambiance of hushed early conversations, the clatter of dishes hitting the sink, and bacon sizzling on the hot griddle. Until.. "Sooo, Lou.." She smiled.

He never did respond well to other people's idea of structure, anyway. After what upper command referred to the "Corn Dog Incident", he was kicked out, and through yet another chain of unbelievable events.. He now operates the local auto shop, and every morning began with breakfast at the diner.

Sure, it may have started with a "minor" slip up of "Motor Vehicle Theft". And also, sure, the judge did tell him he could either join the military or go to jail... But she never did say to Lou Howell he'd have to stay IN the military. Which, naturally, never would have worked out either.

Theodora walked toward town, still able to hear Gloria's disapproval in her mind: "A historic buildin' turned mustard colored refrigerated eyesore, just like the mustard dress wearin' devil woman who made it.." "Who?" "Meredith Roswell, & she named her capitalistic monstrosity... Strange Mart."

"Now it's all.. come check out our daily deals this.. run don't walk that." Gloria seethed, "Hurry on down we got everything you need!" Theodora blinked, "Well that's hardly a bad thing.. Where can I find it?" "There. Dead center of town. They tore down the ol' Information Center to build it."

Gloria shrugged with exhaustion, "Fine. I guess you'll have to go to the worst place I can think of in the entire county." Theodora, a bit puzzled, squinted, "Excuse me?" "The Super Market." "How is that-" "Who needs 20 types of cereal?! We were doin' just fine before that place opened."

"You gonna replace the carpet too?" "Considered it, but since I'm not here for too long.. I don't feel like having it put back." Theodora sighed, "Oh that reminds me, a rug too." "What's wrong with my carpet?" "Gloria, I can work my magic only so much. Some stains are just scars."

"Bah." Gloria waved, "Fine, he can stay." "Thought so." Theodora smirked, "Now.. where can I find a decent store where I can get new sheets, bedding, some curtains... Definitely some table covers..." "Huh?" Gloria finally looked back up. "Oh and a lamp. Or at the very least a new lamp/shade/."

Gloria's abrupt laughter quelled, "Ahh, but- Get your own linens from the closet. Your room? Your problem." Theodora rolled her eyes, "...That so? So you wouldn't mind if.. I personalized it perhaps a bit more? Some minor modifications." "As long as it looks the same it does when you check out."

Theodora paused, recalibrating her albeit feigned pleasantry, "Oh no I don't need a refund. I was hoping I could ask if room service could stop by while I run out?" "I don't do room service." Gloria cut her eyes, "But I heard the room service you gave your soldier last night was pretty top notch."

"It's not like we're hunting someone." Theodora guided her dog out the door as she locked it, "We're trying to answer a question for Grimm. Now lets go meet the-" She looked down to see Prince Louis sniffing curiously, "-Locals. Ew, Louis leave him alone, we don't know where he's been!"

She waltzed over to the dresser, adjusting a small hat on her hair with pins, "So I guess this is a good thing.. Shopping, meeting the locals, and getting the feel of this place." Prince Louis playfully growled before giving an excited yap. "Yes, and we can grab some treats while we are out."

Eventually she got dressed. "All I'm saying is he's lucky he's so pretty, Prince Louis." She adjusted her earrings, "And that I promised a long time ago I wouldn't mind control him." Prince Louis barked in disapproval. "I know I know.. you're right. We also have some of our own matters to tend to."

"Then why did you suggest it?!" "I'm sure you'll figure something out. Talk to Gloria, find a store,, I'll cover whatever you need." He quickly fastened buttons, "But I have a pretty big meeting today. We'll do dinner after?" "Mmmm." She glared. "I'll bring you flowers.." He sweetened. "Fine."

"And how do you think my superior officer will take that?" He chuckled, "First thing should have been a few hours ago, dear." "What am I going to do?!" "I'm sure you can wiggle your nose, cast a spell, & figure something out." "You think I wasted my talents on housekeeping spells?" "Actually? No."

Like lightning, he shot out of bed, "DAMN IT-" He immediately threw on a shirt and was shuffling into his slacks. She gasped, turning over in their bed, "What are you doing?!" "Getting ready for work!" "But you promised me we'd fix..." She squinted around the room, "..all of THIS! ..First thing!"

Theodora stirred, squeezing her eyes as the light hit them. At first, confusion at her surroundings. Then came the memory of the night before. Awake, but still a dream. She sat up listening to the gentle slow breaths of her love. "Fritz..." She whispered, a small smile curling to her cheeks.
